Open The Sundering of the World

"... Well that wasn't useful in any way, shape or form." Balien concluded. Cyrus asked why. "Please, even you must acknowledge this. That Houndoom used Shadow Force-impressive, yes. But he didn't exactly use it tactfully. Just to dodge an attack, mainly, and for the toll it surely took on him, it wasn't worth it." Cyrus didn't understand.

"So? Technically, he won, right?"

"Maybe. But that is of no concern to me. There was little strategy involved. No effective combinations of standard Pokemon attacks and martial art."

"You aren't exactly a working artist yourself, then." Cyrus pointed out.

"Which is why I was hoping to learn from this experience. Turns out, I didn't." When the Houndoom walked out of the Pokemon Center, Balien looked at him with little interest. "Look, he went gimp and fell down."

"... Should we help him?" Cyrus asked.

"He did it to himself. He should accept the consequence." Balien turned away from the Houndoom. Cyrus punched him on the shoulder, and went to the Houndoom without Balien.

"Oi. Wakey wakey. Not smart to sleep in the street." Cyrus poked the Houndoom. "I'm certainly not going to carry you anywhere, and I have no desire to stick you in a pokeball."

"don't worry my trainer is inside," shadow said," and I'm not a child so pleas don't talk to me like I am one,"
Shadow just payed there but opened his eye to look at the two standing there, it was the boy and his lucario. Why did they care what happened to me, shadow asked himself.

As Haru and Runa reemerged from the Pokémon Center, both of them looked noticeably calmer. Miles was back in his Poké Ball, which was a good sign; Runa knew that Haru was probably too paranoid to withdraw a Pokémon that was that badly injured. But luckily the Manectric was okay again.

As they exited, though, the sight of Shadow falling onto the ground caught Runa's attention. She began to make her way toward him, slowly at first, but as she noticed other people approaching and prodding him, she rushed forward, her fur bristling. She was growling slightly, hoping they wouldn't get in such close proximity again. Usually, it wasn't a good idea to walk up to a random Pokémon that was lying in the street, especially something as strong as a Houndoom. The Mightyena stood over him for a moment, before backing up again and growling, "Who are you?" Perhaps these humans, unlike Haru, could understand her... and if they couldn't, the person's Pokémon could.

"No, but you look almost as helpless as one right about now, bub." Cyrus looked up as the Mightyena ran over. "Well, nice to meet you to." He raised an eyebrow. "Seems like manners aren't very popular anymore. Ah, whatever." He stood up. "I'm assuming you're this guy's friends. Which'd mean you're plenty capable of helping him at this point. I'll leave it to you."

Cyrus began to walk away, then turned back around. "As to who I am, I'm Cyrus, this is Balien. We're here because of that call thing. If it's alright with you, I'd like to know who you and your trainer are. Betting you're here for the call too."

As the Houndoom used Shadow Force and his opponent fell, Wargle smirked and let out a small laugh. This Houndoom had a funny trick. Wargle glanced at the Manetric and stuffled a small laugh.

Shadow got up, "what I was just napping," he said with a small chuckle. He looked over at Runa, he wanted to say something but he didn't know what so he dipped his head in thanks and ran over to Haru

As Shadow went back over to Haru, Runa stood and spoke with the other Trainer. Now she was perfectly calm, and replied, "We've been called here in the same way. I'm Runa, and my trainer, over there, is Haru." She tossed her head to indicate the woman standing in front of the Pokémon Center, then nodded to Cyrus and... the other one. Balien, was it? After a small smile, she trotted back to Haru, and tilted her head as she sat next to Shadow.

"I guess we just wait now," her Trainer said simply. Every now and then she would listen carefully in case someone was calling them from the beach, but all she heard was the distant waves and other conversations carried on the breeze.

Axe had barely noticed the battle going on; with Shadow distracted, she had fallen half-asleep, since it was probably the only rest she'd be able to get in a while. At the sound of the finishing Thunder attack, though, she started again. A Manectric had been sent out to duel against Shadow, but it was difficult to tell who was winning - mainly because Shadow had just disappeared and left no trace of where he was nor where he was going to appear next. This got Axe excited - she had immediately stood up, anticipating the end of the fight. As it turned out, the Manectric had fainted there because of the energy required to use such a powerful move, and Shadow had spontaneously collapsed not much later. I guess that would be a draw, she now told herself. She was heading for the gathering of people and Pokemon near the Pokemon Center in the city. She had wandered over about an hour before, but given up on it because the Lucario she had been investigating didn't look important. Now Shadow and the Manectric's Trainer were there, too, and they seemed to be waiting for something.

A memory flickered in the dragon's mind; this must be the gathering of people and Pokemon alike to discuss how to take care of whatever creatures were ravaging the world. Axe had forgotten because of the many things she had done since she got here, but now she was pretty much sure that word of this gathering-place that had reached her about a week before was true. She wasn't all that eager to hang out with humans, but maybe she could relate to the Pokemon there.

Axe approached the building, but cautiously. If any Pokemon showed signs of hostility, she'd probably root her feet to where they were and refuse to move until everything calmed down.

Drake landed on the crusty ground with a thump as Hunter gazed across Slateport City's range. The group had woken up extremely late that previous morning due to a stray Houndoom lurking past them. Aju had sensed it early on, but she knew to just let it go.

"It's... really not that great, if you ask me," Hunter murmured as he sat down. "I was expecting something interesting, not just a bunch of idiots hanging around and waiting for a certain event to take place."

Well, D.J. sighed. I guess you expected too much. Or... what did you expect? The Umbreon couldn't help but sigh once more, being bemused at his owner's ignorance.

What are you all talking about? This place is alive and great! Much better than the dusty fields near Verdanturf, Drake exclaimed with excitement. At least there will be optomistic people to talk to. The Dragonite glared at his companions; he wanted, just once, for them to be content with their current conditions and live life for the now.

Drake, you know us. We don't care for those kinds of people. They ignore the true fact that world is being invaded by an extremely destructive force, Aju helplessly explained. The world has never experienced war such as this. And yet everyone is still unprepared. She stared at the city below her. Everyone seemed as if they were ants. Helpless. Meaningless. Unfortunate. Weak. Begging for death as they crawled along the monsters' path.

Drake knew all too well what the trio of pessimists were thinking, and it took his best effort to not try and helplessly prove that society was also truly shocked at the events occurring.

And so, he did not. Watching the others amble along their way towards the city, the Dragonite exhaled a large breath, hoping that his companions would once more see a light that had then ceased to shine.

(Sorry for my inactivity; I got lazy. It's human.)

Shadow couldn't believe what he was hearing at the top of the ridge. They think we have no idea what is happening.

Olmak was flying about the city, trying to spot the one not of the world. It was easy enough of a task, as those that were part of the other world looked vastly different from even the pokemon of his world. Even with the vast size of the city, he was sure that he, Master Tobias, and the others would be able to find the subordinate.

That's what Olmak was thinking right before he saw the battle take place. Silently landing on a nearby building, the Golurk watched the entire showdown with bemusement. The Houndoom certainly wasn't faring all too well.

Master Tobias would do well to steer clear of that one, he thought, it's nowhere near of the level of a worthy o-

Olmak had to change his opinion the moment he saw the Houndoom teleport away.

Interesting. A houndoom capable of that attack? Well, I should report this to Master Tobias. He will find the entire concept... interesting.

With that, he took off from the building. This was unfortunate, as he missed the sight of Tobias and Arthron calmly moving down the street, towards the pokemon center of the city.
----
Tobias hadn't gotten a chance to see the battle that took place in the city, but he and Arthron certainly had heard the sounds of the showdown, even from the distance they were at.

"I think we've just found out first worthy opponent, Arthron. Doubtless that they will be going to the pokemon center to heal following such a battle. Let's... meet them there, shall we?"

It was a rhetorical question, of course. Arthron immediately started flying for the center, Tobias not too far behind.

"It seems everyone is going to the Pokémon center." Wargle pointed out.

"Thank you Captain Obvious, I would never have noticed that." retorted Escavalier with a frown. Wargle smacked him in the back of the helmet and the Karrablast fell out of the armour.
"Do that again, and I'll turn you into Turducken." he warned as scrambled back into his armour.

((As you suspected, the corruption of Tobias shouldn't be public knowledge.))

"Well, uh, please give that back.", the guard said, at least a little bit shaken by the faerie dragon's behavior.

"Unfortunately, I can't do that. I believe I have places to be going.", Kathris replied as she slipped her hand through the bars to fit the key into the lock.

The guard then snatched at her hands, trying to wrestle the key out of her reach. It was at that point that Pavel walked into the jail.

"What's going on?", he asked both of them, "Is it an escape attempt?"

"Yes. Something stole the key and gave it to her.", the guard answered, "Would you please help me?"

"Now, hang on a second.", Pavel replied, "Just stop it. What exactly happened?"

Dropping the key at the sight of a seemingly more reasonable human, Kathris explained, "A faerie dragon, something from my world, in a way, appeared. It granted me the key, and I simply tried to open the door. The faerie's appearance would indicate something's at work here, and I don't want to be locked up when the demons come."

"Huh.", Pavel simply replied, "This is all a bit... crazy, isn't it?"

"Well, uh, I can confirm this happened. Some being did, in fact, appear inside the cell.", the guard explained.

"I don't suppose... you're here to fight the invaders, are you?", Pavel asked of the elf, "You honestly don't seem like them, all big and burning. Well, you're awfully tall, but you haven't been capable of razing this town or anything."

"I simply got lost here, but I may as well fight there here too.", Kathris answered, "I've fought them before. I maybe able to tell you a few things."

"Why not let her out?", Pavel asked his fellow officer.

"Won't we get in big trouble?", the guard shot back.

"Well... I did get stuck heading this whole operation to fight back.", Pavel replied, "I'll take the fall on this one."

"Whatever you say.", the guard replied.

The door got unlocked and Kathris walked out. She grabbed her bow and quiver and started out the station when Pavel stopped her, "Wait for me. I ought to tell you where the important spots are."

He followed her out and pointed to the Contest Hall and the Pokemon Center, "Those are the important places here. The Contest Hall is where important meetings will take place, and you'll probably get to meet a lot of people at the Pokemon Center, it's where we treat our Pokemon's injuries and trainers tend to gather there sometimes."

"And... what are... these creatures you call Pokemon?", Kathris asked.

"No time to explain, I've got a few things to do. Just ask around.", Pavel said as he walked off towards the Contest Hall.

---

The setting sun told Kathris that night would fall in a few hours. The moon hung off to the side in the fading light. Slinging her quiver around her shoulder, Kathris decided to head to this 'Pokemon Center' place. If the human pointed out the right place, it would be a building with a red roof and a distinctive circular logo. Conveniently enough, it was down the road from the police station. There were at least two humans standing in front of it, along with a small collection of creatures of all shapes and sizes, mostly quadrupedal. With nothing else to do, she approached the group.

"Ishnu-alah, humans.", Kathris greeted, "It appears I am, for now, trapped upon your world. And unfortunately, it is under attack by the Burning Legion, is it not?"

"say what," shadow said not really understanding the strange creature that had just walked up," and who is attacking us because I'll I have seen are an Orc, I believe they are called."

As Tobias and Arthron came closer to the pokemon center, they decided to stay out of sight (from behind a building) as best they could - all the better to find out which opponents were the more worthy from a distance and strike specifically once the decision was made.

That, and we can weed out the easiest of opponents first in that way, Tobias grinned savagely, but I am certain that I will save my strength for the greater opponents.

So he did wait, and he did watch. It was all well and good, the decision. The opponents certainly were an interesting collective, but if there were one that stood out from the rest, it would have to be-

"Sir," Arthron interrupted into Tobias' thoughts, it's here.

Tobias saw it almost immediately after Arthron said it: the being not of this world.

"...trapped upon your world. And unfortunately, it is under attack by the Burning Legion, is it not?"

A night elf, to be specific. From what Tobias remembered, they as a rule of thumb were the enemies of the Legion.

Can it sense the Corruption, Tobias considered, well, I think in this instance testing is the only way to find out. With any luck, Olmak will find me soon either way.

"Yes, he said, emerging from behind the building, "it is terrible that we are under such a siege." Pulling his hat down, he added, "tell me, creature, how much of this Legion do you know about?"

My orders were merely to conduct surveillance, he thought, but of course I am always open with... expanding such orders for the leaders. I am certain they wouldn't mind.

What's with this guy, shadow said as some man walked forward covering up his features,"hello and who might you be?" shadow asked not sounding in any way hostile.

Haru looked over strangely as she saw a very odd human with violet-colored skin approach. It said some strange words, and then finally began to speak in English. The Trainer paused for a moment, then replied, "Yes. Something's attacking us; I guess the Burning Legion is what you call it." To her surprise, there was also something else coming their way; a normal human and his Bug-type with fiery-colored wings. Haru turned toward them with a bit ofo a questioning look.

Runa's ears twitched as she realized that she didn't understand the very strange human-like creature. Shadow seemed to know the gist of what she was saying, but still looked puzzled. The Mightyena glanced toward the Houndoom at her side, and whispered to him, "She doesn't smell like a human. Who do you think she is?" For a moment, she straightened up. "How much do you think she knows about the enemy?"

As another Trainer and his Pokémon came toward them, Runa glanced over to them, and faced them directly. Hopefully they weren't hostile; in his current condition, she wouldn't let Shadow get hurt.

"I don't think she is," shadow replied to runa," and why do you care what happens to me, I sense a small shred of care in you,"

Tobias regarded the strange-looking Houndoom coldly. "If you must know, my name is Tobias Akarou, but in the days before this attack, when I did battle in the pokemon arenas across the world, people knew me as the Jackal. The better question, really, is who are you, Houndoom, and what would it take to make me care?"

It was only then that he noticed the young woman looking at him almost quizzically. "Does something about me upset you, miss?" He lifted up the brim of his hat briefly, "Is it wrong that I've arrived in this city later than some of your likely allies? If so, please. let me know."

Yes, yes, he thought, laughing inwardly, let me know exactly what it is about me that makes you waver... exploiting any weakness of yours will make a battle that much easier.

Axe turned and didn't move much when she noticed more people walking up. Why more humans?! It was starting to make her uncomfortable being around this many of them, and she momentarily considered just running back to the edge of the city and letting them sort this out themselves, but she told herself that the current situation was for the better. To allow herself a bit more leeway, though, she took two steps away from the group. She was still well within earshot, but being just a few inches farther from the humans made her more comfortable.

She could understand the human speech, but wasn't sure if the humans could understand her. "It makes sense that they're called the Burning Legion when they scourge the land like fire," commented the stout dragon, somewhat quietly but still at an audible level. "What's the plan? We've gathered a bunch of defiant beings, so now what? Not like I don't trust you have a plan or anything, but it'd be nice if we could know it at least as time unfolds."
