In Australia, hospitals reported four broken arms due to cracker pulling incidents.
Urban birds have developed a short, fast 'rap style' of singing, whilst rural ones haven't.
31 Australians have died since 1996 by watering their Christmas tree while their fairy lights were plugged in.
I don't know if they are absolutely true though o_O

Despite the fact that real 'Christmas trees' aren't actually native to Australia and are very rarely chopped down for christmas - nearly all christmas trees are plastic.
Other than that, I guess it could be true - due to all the people who get drunk as skunks at Christmas. xD

China uses 45 billion chopsticks per year. 25 million trees are chopped down to make 'em sticks.

Uh... yeah, they do. They have a special tendon in the back of their ankle (or 'hock,' if you want to be technical), which they lock when they go to sleep. If the tendon is cut, the horse can't sleep standing up and falls over. (I knew a horse who this happened to; she continued to try to sleep standing up and fell over every time. She eventually learned to lean against a wall to sleep.)

Scientists have recently discovered a white dwarf star made entirely out of diamond. It was 1 billion trillion trillion carets.
The oldest astronomical record is a 32,000-year-old piece of bone that shows the phases of the Moon.
It took Voyager 2 twelve years to reach Neptune.
Jupiter has more mass than all the other planets, moons, asteroids, and comets in the Solar System put together, but is only a hundreth of the mass of the smallest star.
