It is, but such is the quintessential design flaw of ASB.

Well, being kind of screwed when you were commanding first tends to be more or less par for the course in ASB, but I guess this could be a little too much. Still, maybe people just need to start accounting for it in their conditionals, same as Protect and whatnot. If absolutely nothing else, Struggle is always in there.

I know, right. Every other move type is basically like "here's a projectile, which you can deflect! here's a tongue of flames, which you can put out or repel! here's a punch, which you can dodge or hide from!", but then Psychic-type moves are almost all like "lol I'm in your head already nothing could have stopped me from getting in, good luck getting your referee to agree to slightly lowering the damage because you were attempting to disrupt my focus, and that's if I didn't take the precaution of standing too far away from you for that".

I saw that in LotF vs Meursault, but is it actually becoming that common? You can always just stick to projectile moves while you're trapped, although I'm aware that isn't a possibility that's available or particularly good for any Pokémon.

i just took a second look at the calcs for the massive trainwreck roof battle and it looks like the only thing that clinched you getting the KO vs me was that Superbird did the weather damage all at once at the end of the round instead of bit by bit throughout

so yeah literally ref habits were the only reason you got the KO (lol)
