Open Dreams of the Past

Where am I as of now? Zrantox thought, I don't remember much of where I floated to, just that I floated down...

Guess i might as well ascend...
----
"That could work. As long as we stay away from Zrantox and the Aerodactyl, we should be able to sneak away with him."

"Hurry," Effigei said.

Yatasori nodded, saying: "Time is of the essence, then. if I know Zrantox, he's probably on his way up right now."

((If you were referring to Lance, Arylett, I'm not sure he's left the cave yet if I'm reading Stormette's post correctly.))

Sinar watched as a short, for a human, figure approached the cave entrance. It was a female, and dressed rather plainly as far as humans went. She stood there for a long, long time, waiting for something, which was evident merely through her actions.

What is your business at this cave?, Sinar asked.

(Oh, I believe he hasn't. Mourmedy's just kinda outside of the cave, waiting.)

As the man who had come out of the cave was about to inform her what had happened, she heard a voice... although it sounded rather... strange. Almost not human...

And lo and behold, she was right.

Mourmedy narrowed her eyes at the creature, a look of both disgust and surprise apparent in her features. She shook her head, then glared at the man with her. Later. She would deal with him later.

"I have no reason to tell you my motives." The woman said coldly.

Mist's legs were exhausted from walking all the way to what was Ecruteak. It looked at least slightly damaged by whatever had ensued in the centuries in which the Drapion was asleep, but how would she know exactly what had happened? She was just a Pokémon who was much older than normal and had no idea what was going on!

She fell asleep in the shelter of trees near a cave with the thoughts of doubt in her mind, and thrashed a little in her sleep.

Her dream took place somewhere dark and strange. It looked isolated by water and cliffs, only causing the feelings of uncertainty to flood Mist like a wave created by a mystical creature. She normally liked the darkness, but there was something wrong with this place. Everything was so distorted.

I have found you, finally... A rasping voice echoed through the air, appearing to have no source.

A loud growl escaped Mist's throat, and her small eyes narrowed, her venomous tail twitching with hostility and doubt.

There is no need to panic. It is only me.

Whatever it was, there was something saying this. And whatever it was, it faded out of the night in front of Mist. The large creature was humanoid, even though its arms were oddly long, and a red necklace of some sort glowed around its neck.

I am Darkrai. I can be your teacher in this world...

"Teacher of what?" Mist snapped back, snarling.

Everything. I can tell you what has happened, and what is to happen. Everything to know.

"Why do you need to do it?" The Drapion retorted, turning away.

Because there is no one else.

Mist turned her head slightly to face Darkrai, a curious look coming forth in her eyes.

As you slept, I could sense your doubt and fear like a thunderstorm hanging over a sunny area. It led me to you, and I want to assist you.

Mist pondered for a moment. She found herself thinking more than she needed to. But her thoughts were empty, and she tried to consider the options. But she could find no other answer.

Mist nodded carefully, looking into Darkrai's aqua blue eyes. "I accept."

((Oh OK. This is clearly why you don't do something else while typing up roleplay posts. <.<))

Actually, Sinar explained matter-of-factly, this is my home. Or rather, I live inside. So, you do have a reason, as entering someone else's private spaces is generally frowned upon.

However, Sinar continued, since you have yet to show any intent to enter, I won't ask anymore of you. However, your tone of voice, if I am not mistaken, indicates negative sentiment, which arouses suspicion.

Cole curiously watched the woman. She seemed…cold. Aloof. Kind of harsh, after her comment. She obviously needed to lighten up a little. Well, no; a lot. And Sinar was obviously having a conversation with her, but he was so…devoid of emotion. And anyways, I need to do something to pass the time.

"Hi!" Cole called with a sincere smile. "What brings you here?"

((Yeah, Sinar already asked. But Cole can't hear him if he's speaking privately to Mourmedy. And besides, I couldn't think of anything else. -_-))

Hmm... it sure appeared to have been getting crowded here all of a sudden...

Mourmedy turned her steely gaze to the teenager who had spoken to her, eyes surveying her sharply.

"May I first ask... why you're here? Then I'll tell you why I am."

In her mind, she heard the creature speak in it once more, and decided to answer back mentally. Bleh... how she disliked that ability to speak within her mind. It felt like an intrusion.

You live in there? Tell me something... how long have you lived in there? Are there... any more of your kind that live inside?

It looked as if her assistant, the man, was about to say something, but one harsh glance in his direction quickly shut him up.

She didn't need him screwing up things again.

I have resided within this cave ever since my landing on this planet., Sinar answered, Which was about 1700 solar years ago. The impact site is where I spend nights.

Beware, this one seems suspicious., Sinar told Nicole, Though I have yet to fully scan her thoughts.

Tanya nods. "Very well. Look into my eyes then, Lance..." She stared down toward him, and as she looked, her eyes seemed to glow red. The milotic began slowly lowering her head toward the human, and began to sing along with it, a haunting, wordless melody echoing throughout the second sleep chamber. As she finished her song, Tanya whispered gently to Lance, "Close your eyes... relax... lay limp... let yourself... go..." She finally lifted Lance up off the ground, wrapping her jaws around his middle, his head and feet sticking out and pointing toward the ground. Tanya began to slither out of the sleeping chambers, heading toward the exit. I sure hope there won't be any more interruptions, particularly from that old ghost..

Zrantox floated upward, turned transparent, and found himself in a two-way chamber.

I can't remember which way this path goes. One leads to the surface, the other, to the chambers.

I'll go right.

The ghost moved onward, and eventually saw a point of light.

The exit! I must have been going... wait a minute.

He saw...

Unbelievable! More of those vermin?!

I must remedy that immediately!

He called a dark pulse to his hands, and floated closer, to get a better shot.

Three of them. It's possible that one is Lance, and the other that female from before. But the third....

Who would that be?

I might as well take out one of them randomly. Nothing can save them now.

He fired on the human closest to his position.
----
"Go," Effigei said, once the Milotic began the Hypnosis.

"Right," Yatasori said, "The sooner we exit, the better. I'll sleep safely once I know Zrantox will come here only to find an empty chamber."

"Agreed," Effigei said, before floating away. Without another word, Yatasori followed.

((Incidentally, I'm referring to the man who exited the cave that reported to Mourmedy))

It came before she even saw it coming.

The man was violently knocked off his feet by a flash that flew so quickly that she could scarcely even process it, she didn't have time to react. His head hit the dirt hard, dust flying.

And then he moved no more.

Mourmedy's arm quickly flew to her pockets, as she unseathed a rather shiny silver object. Her expression was a mixture of bewilderment and some anxiety.

The woman swiftly ambled out of the line of fire, away from the entrance, to the sides of the cave. She knelt down, clutching the gun as beads of sweat dripping down her light forehead. Her expression soon became calmly blank, after the moment of initial shock. She had to keep her cool, she had to look unfazed and inviolable.

Weakness was unacceptable.

((Oh wait! She was in front of the entrance to the caves? Damn. Should have payed attention.))

Kleh'Drentaht had been thinking for a long time. That human woman was going to be a problem. He could smell the gunpowder from the gun she carried. The scent was overbearing, especially since he was standing downwind from her. He decided to make a run for it. He dashed out just as a Dark Pulse flew past his head. Not knowing whether or not it was aimed at him, he kept running.

Xalvin eyed the human curiously. Why is she here? What is she plotting? More questions started to fling around his head as he heard a Dark Pulse being fired.

63 jumped when the Dusknoir fired the Dark Pulse. He watched as it hit a man no more than a few meters away from him. 63 looked at him, waiting for him to get up.

He didn't.

Had that Dark Pulse killed him? Why did the other Pokemon do such a thing.

63 had no idea what was going on. Without thinking, he shot a massive bolt of electricity towards the Dusknoir. Once he had gotten a hold of himself, he stopped doing anything, nervously waiting for what would happen next.

((Expect a Zemhal post soon :D))

The man fell to the ground, and for a moment Cole stood, shocked. Then she searched for the attacker and was rewarded instantly.

The Dusknoir.

She had honestly thought he would be asleep for longer; only now did she remember how short the effects of sleep-inducing attacks were. She was now a target. She had to get away. Glancing around, Cole sprinted behind one of the trucks that were running in anticipation of Tanya's return and moved so that only enough of her showed for her to keep an eye on her attacker; it was no good to provide an opportunity to be snuck up on.

The bolt of electricity was as unexpected as it was painful. Zrantox's world was dissolved into a painful mixture of light and color.

He shook away the remaining pain. He'd kill the interloper later.

For now, there was a human to slay.

Floating forward to get a better shot at the other human, he noted that she was carrying some sort of object that looked...

Wrong.

"I don't know what brought you here, filth," he said, calling another dark pulse, "but you will regret ever doing so."

He fired.

Everything happened relatively quickly. Luckily, those with psychic powers like Sinar tended to think quickly. One human was down, there wasn't anything Sinar could do about that. It could, however, stop anyone else from hurting each other too badly. Telekinetically, Sinar simultaneously grabbed the weapon from the woman's hands and shoved her to the ground in an attempt to get her out of the way of the dark pulse.

It would not do to have anyone dying without justification., Sinar noted to everyone.

I agree! Cole nearly screeched mentally back to Sinar. I can't do anything, so please try to immobilize him or something. She was starting to panic…that was bad. Two Pokemon might not be able to hold off that one…maybe they could, she reasoned with herself. She repeated this mentally, trying to convince herself of it, and carefully eyed the scene again.

Lance sagged, and then collapsed as he met the Milotic's eyes. Even as Tanya picked him up, he didn't stir, looking appropriately pale and dead.

----

Skaldia screeched as a Dark Pulse zoomed past her. Really, she had been dozing off, but the fact that the Dusknoir was attacking again enraged her. Screeched, she awkwardly leaped into the air and began to fly, circling overhead. Seeing Cole's predicament, though - she was even more vulnerable than that strange woman who Sinar was protecting - the Aerodactyl swooped down and growled. "Get on." she rasped, trying to land, look over her shoulder and use Foresight on the Dusknoir all at the same time. "You need to get out of here, or you'll die."

Cole obeyed without question, clambering on to the Aerodactyl's back and tightly gripping her shoulders. "Ready…" She worried that they might be an easy target in the air if the Dusknoir had aim that good, but this really was the only option. She was as good as dead otherwise.
