Open Dreams of the Past

ed'Rashtekaresket was rather surprised actually, but did his best not to show it. Really, I thought I'd be kept down for longer..? "Well, I would appreciate if you showed me," he answered, the sharp edge leaving his voice. "Before I go, that is."

((Crap, look what I got myself into now, I can't make ed leave or plot fail >.<))

Mist listened with slight confusion. So there were a lot of humans who were completely arrogant -- tyrants, probably -- who wanted to rule the world alone? And it was almost always chaotic, apparently, unless these 'militias' could solve that. She had never heard the word "militia" before -- maybe it just wasn't necessary to use in her time. But the next sentence gave a hint to what it meant. Nearly all of these powerhouses are ruled with an iron fist, by humans... so they were probably powerful groups of people or something.

But you happen to be in luck.

The Drapion flinched as she heard this. The Milotic described that they, the Pokémon, not humans, could be put into power. We have an opportunity... to finally set things straight, to reshape society the way it was meant to be. And all I need is your help and support, to shift the balance of power once more.

Mist didn't know what to say in order not to sound stupid. "I'll take this chance," she said finally, "at whatever cost."

Skaldia listened, still confused. They were in Johto - she remembered the cave, vaguely, but why were they here? What she last remembered... Lance had been telling her something, and she had accepted the offer and left him. Had she wanted to be put into the chambers? The Solrock, whom she hadn't noticed before, now caught her attention. She flared her wings. "Yes, that's it. I was waiting here for a trainer!" In her excitement and relief that she had actually remembered, she almost ignored the last part of what he was saying.

Tanya, however, reaffirmed it, and the Aerodactyl squawked in protest at this change. "We can't have been asleep for that long! How could humans not need Pokemon?" It was impossible to think that they had been asleep for more than a few years. Her mind couldn't deal with the fact that they had slept for longer, far longer. In her agitation, she lashed her tail, wanting to not believe it. Still... "Reshape society the way it was meant to be." she repeated. "Do you mean like it was before?" At the moment, she needed something to think about that could consume her, that she could obsess over and be able to avoid those uncomfortable thoughts about age, and how much had changed. She didn't want to drive herself in a panic.

((Failpost. x3 You guys were at RSP-posting speed yesterday.))

Zrantox could not believe what he was hearing from these new pokemon and the human. It stunned and sickened him.

They've taken control. These vile humans have locked down on our world. Our kind is regarded in the same way that I regard them...

interesting.

In any case, I cannot be open about my hatred in front of one of their kind. She could warn the humans. I cannot let that happen.

"I agree," Zrantox said, "We must shape society the way it was meant to be- at any and all costs."

((Guessing at it now...))

Actually, your group has been asleep for over 300 solar years., Sinar told the Aerodactyl, Skaldia, I know not what exactly happened. It was decided at some point that trainers were detrimental to human society.

After some thought, Sinar continued, but this time to everyone, To the way it was before...? Perhaps. The ideal situation for myself would perhaps be a world wherein we Pokemon and the humans live as equals. I recall a time in the great and distant past before humans rapidly adopted technology, before the concept of capturing a Pokemon existed.

((Was I right?))

"I remember a similar time," Zrantox said to the Solrock. "I have existed for forty-five centuries, and could recall a time where we and humans knew not of the other's existence."

It was better that way, he thought, We were not enslaved by them, we lived in peace. To my knowledge, the only human-pokemon interaction came when I and the other six had to guide the dead.

Why? Why did the corruption begin? Why did the humans have to believe their superiority?

Cole blinked at the Milotic tail slowly wrapping around her body. It was…sort of calming, but it also made her feel claustrophobic. Before she could voice this, though, the tail was gone. Listening to the conversation, she waited for an opening before saying, "I wouldn't say that I'm 'influenced' to do your bidding. I mean, I do what Tanya says, but that's because she's my boss. But I'm up for the idea of humans and Pokemon living as equals; I feel attached to both and recognize that you are equal in intellect to us. I'm willing to help, if there's a way for it to happen," Cole finished brightly

"All right then," Tanya replied to the Sharpedo. "I would like to finish my discussion first though, so if you're in a hurry, I'll direct one of my employees to show you."

Tanya remained an active participant in the conversation. These sleepers are quite interesting. We'll see what happens, but hopefully we'll be able to be mutually useful. "Three hundred years... Hmm, let's see, my general knowledge of history puts that somewhere during the reign of the League Champions. It was only when the Champions began to lose their influence, and technology was able to overwhelm even the strongest, most capable of Pokémon teams, that the League Champions quickly lost their power. Squabbles and rivalries turned into bloody wars, and trainers and in fact the whole system was overwhelmed. However, many humans believe that they are the only ones worthy of technology, that they alone are deserving of power, and it has been a volatile, world ever since, with many different factions rising up. The anarchy has been quelled somewhat through corporate entities, creating weapons and extending their own personal realm of control, but the infrastructure of the world has totally collapsed."

Forty-five centuries? Wow, that's impressive. Though, he is a spirit, so I shouldn't be too surprised.

The Milotic turned to the human next to her and smiled, replying to her. "I'm sure that you will have your own role to play, however great or small it is."

"I can wait," ed'Rashtekaresket answered, and listened selectively in the conversation, picking out the interesting bits. "Three hundred years.." the Sharpedo looked around at the walls. He had been in this stuffy, dry place for 300 years? And then humans had taken over, which made his day even more. It would be good to know about the world, even a bit, unless he wanted to die the first day out of this hole in the ground. Pokemon were probably stronger as well, meaning he would have to work harder for food.

An oddly bright, positive human was standing beside the Milotic, and he let his eyes fade from sight before flaring back to light red. It was odd, he was so used to being around older humans, and males.. A slight memory of a man came back, but before ed'Rashtekaresket could see what he looked like, the image faded from his mind. His Trainer, probably..

Anyways, it wouldn't hurt to give them his name, since it was all he had anyways. The other Pokemon probably couldn't pronounce it, anyways. "For the record, my name is ed'Rashtekaresket," the Sharpedo rasped, "if you care to talk to me, or want to try to repeat that."

"Yes, three hundred solar years," Sinar said to the Sharpedo, somewhat wishing he wasn't there so that Sinar wouldn't have to physically communcate, "if I am recalling the human timekeeping system correctly. I counted 109,537 sunrises, ed'Rashtekaresket."

And if it would not bother any of you, Sinar mentally told the others, not caring whether or not ed'Rashtekaresket caught this, I would rather continue this conversation outside, under the sun.

Sinar then turned and started floating towards the exit, sunlight being vital for Solrock.

It was warm, and dark. The oddly colored Manectric struggled to open his eyes, and when he did he immediately shut them once more. The light from the outside of the chamber was blinding. After a few moments, the Manectric was finally able to fully open his eyes. He slowly stood up, and looked about. Where was this? There were many metallic chambers surrounding him, probably containing other Pokemon, or maybe even humans, perhaps?

He began to hear voices. The Manectric turned in the direction from which they were coming from, and saw many different Pokemon gathered together. He began to understand from their conversation that something had happened for three hundred years. He looked around to the other chambers, and slowly climbed out of his. Could it have been that these chambers had imprisoned all of them for this time? Was that even possible. He looked back over to the conversation to hear a...Milotic, was it? A Milotic talking about what had happened in the past three hundred years. The League? What was the league?

Others had talked about what had happened prior to them being put to sleep. What had happened to him when he had fallen asleep? Come to think of it, the Manectric thought, I can't remember a thing. He looked at the chamber he had been in. The number 63 was painted on it. 63, was that my name?

63 sluggishly walked over towards the group of Pokemon.

"Um, could someone tell me exactly what is going on?" 63 asked hesitantly. He hoped that these Pokemon wouldn't think of him as a fool for having to ask.

About to follow Sinar, Cole paused at the sight of a black and yellow Electrike…no, a Manectric. She knew every Pokemon's name and type, but she always got those two names messed up. Huh.

Obviously he had awakened late, so she supplied, "As far as I understand, you've been asleep for three hundred years waiting for a powerful trainer to retrieve you. And some humans have ursurped the League Champions' rule, and at the moment there are large businesses making anti-Pokemon technology, so it's kind of dangerous to be alive. The dig team I'm on has unearthed you, and…well, I'm not sure what's happening now. Tanya's the one to ask questions to; she's the brains of this operation," Cole finished, pointing at said Milotic for a moment.

Then, returning to her previous intent, she said, "I'm going out, like Sinar," cheerfully jogging out in the direction of the cave's exit.

((I just realized that since we're all on the dig together, we should probably know the other's names. At least some of them, even if there are a large number of diggers.

Can Nicole and Sinar know each other's names, since they would both go out into the sun often?))

There was a cracking sound from one of the chambers, as a crack formed in one of the walls. And then a dent. And another. A good part of the wall fell away from the construct and a Salamence stepped out with eyes tightly shut against the light, though there was a clear opening big enough for her to step out right beside the hole she had made. Storm had a flare for the dramatic and insane. Blinking up at the source of the light, the Salamence looked around as her eyes adjusted, and found her throat was oddly dry. "Where.."

A faint memory surfaced, of a human saying something probably important to her, though, like usual, Storm wasn't listening at the time. Up near the light was a group of Pokemon that were talking, and an oddly familiar face in the crowd, though she couldn't tell which it was..

"Ed?" Storm padded towards the Sharpedo, who turned her way and winced. "Why are you here, why am I here, what is everyone doing here, and why?" The Sharpedo flicked red eyes at her.

"It's not 'Ed'," he grumbled, knowing it was useless. "I'd say it's nice to see a familiar face, but it's not, so lay off." He turned towards the entrance again. "We're here.. I'm not exactly sure why we're here," he growled. "But we've been sleeping, apparently, for three hundred years." ed'Rashtekaresket let that sink in a moment.

"Three hundred years? That's a while," Storm passed it off backhandedly, and tried to swallow. "Is there any water? I'm thirsty!" The Sharpedo rolled his eyes the best he could and sighed. Of all the Pokemon he was stuck with.. though, Storm was a good ally, or Pokemon to know. She was really powerful.. if she wasn't distracted all the time.

Skaldia looked suspiciously at the Dusknoir. "Well, since this Solrock seems to know a lot... I'm going after him. Some fresh air would be nice too. I guess everyone else will do what they want?" It wasn't really a question. Maybe she could find both fresh air and water - her throat was still painfully dry. To Tanya, she added - rather uselessly - "I'll be outside if you want to talk to me or are leaving or whatever." With that, she walked unsteadily after both Nicole and Sinar. There wasn't enough room to fly, or she would have done that. Her wings didn't feel as heavy as they had, which was a good sign. Maybe she could be up in the air once more... Being grounded was not a pleasant thing, and reduced her to a clumsy, helpless target.

She honestly didn't know what to think. Three hundred years, asleep? The family she had known was dead. The Pokemon team she had trained and battled with, dead. Lance was... dead. But he didn't matter. Maybe her teammates had, but Lance never had mattered to her. Telling herself this over and over, she growled loudly - loud enough to sound threatening to those nearby.

((Fail~))

Zrantox, after a second's hesitation, followed Sinar.

The sooner we emerge, the better. Hearing of what has become of this world is one thing, actually seeing it is another.

And as for any humans that I meet upon emergence... Dark Pulse first, ask questions later.

With that in mind, he floated upward, falling into "step" right behind the Solrock. Freedom Beckoned.

-----
Outside Union Cave, just above the entrance, a lone Gliscor perched on the rock.

Status.

Yata-Sasori stirred upon hearing the voice of his partner, Effigei, in his head. The Claydol had chosen to hide somewhere beyond the entrance. Yatasori had to give him credit- he could not spot the him, despite having a tremendous view of his surroundings.

"The same as it was the last time you asked," he said, "Perched out here, waiting for them to emerge. It's been a while since that human and the Solrcok entered; knowing who's down there, I fear for their safety."

Approaching.

"Approaching? What are you talking about? I can't see anything coming towards us?"

Below.

The Gliscor unfolded his wing. "Coming back up, eh? Never mind how you knew that, we'd better get ready."

Affirmative.

Yatasori prepared himself. It was only a matter of time.

Tanya smiled and nodded to Ed. "It looks like it's winding down now. Come with me then." She then spoke to Cole. "Inform the others that our objective has been reached. We will be cleaning up, and returning to headquarters later today. In the meantime, show the awakened Pokémon the way out. I'll catch up with you soon." Tanya then motioned for the Sharpedo to follow her.

First leaving the sleeper chambers, Tanya slithered through the winding cave, down a path leading further inside, where an underground lake lay ahead. "Here we are.." She slid into the lake, and glanced back to see if the Sharpedo had been able to keep up. "This lake is pretty big, and there are plenty of smaller fish Pokémon to eat, so if you want to stay here, away from the commotion outside, that's perfectly fine. Otherwise, if you need me, just follow the path of water along the ground. If it's dried, it probably means we've already left the cave."

"Do you know where the Great Marsh is?" she asked Tanya, but the Milotic was already slipping away, so she turned to Sinar instead. The purple scorpion looked at the Solrock with a questioning gaze as she yanked her tail out of the ground, hoping no one would disturb her that much, now that the Milotic was gone.... and now she had just realized how hungry she was. The Drapion wanted to eat something. But preferably no one here.... just prey outside, perhaps. And nothing too small, but not too big, either....

((Sure why not?))

Reaching sunlight was always a relief. Sinar warmed up and energized. Then, feeling around, noted new presences. It turned to see one above the entrance, but another instead stood somewhere farther away. Luckily, they were both Pokemon, a Gliscor and... a Claydol. There weren't any humans besides the girl from the dig team, so the Dusknoir wouldn't necessarily start anything.

You have nothing to fear., Sinar told the Gliscor, There are no humans in there, except the one that just walked out here.

Sinar then noticed Skaldia emerging from the cave as well.

Lance... Lance..., Sinar read from Skaldia, then it told her, Lance was... that one human... I believe he walked in, but never... emerged.

((So can we find him now? =D))

Skeptical. Effigei responded to the Solrock.

He's right, Yatasori thought, hoping the Solrock would read his mind, My partner has seen the Dusknoir before. The moment he goes into a public area, he'll kill as many humans as he can. That is why we have arrived. We are trying to prevent as many deaths as possible. We wish to prevent as much human to pokemon contact as we can.

The Gliscor prepared to take flight. Any minute now, the Dusknoir would make his move.
