Open Dreams of the Past

Cole nodded cheerfully and exited the chamber of the sleeping Pokemon with a "Follow me, I guess" to the other Pokemon there. Once out into the larger main cave, she looked around at the diggers. "We've completed our objective!" she called to the gatherings of Pokemon. "Time to clean up and clear out!"

Continuing through the cave, she made it out into the fresh air and sunlight. Sun was good. Sun was energy. Sun was light. Sun was cheerful.

Sun-shaped Pokemon, on the other hand, could be a multitude of things, often none of the aforementioned. Grinning in the heat, she made her way over to the object of her thoughts, passing by the Aerodactyl - Ska-something?

"Hey, Sinar! It's great that we'll get to leave behind the cave and spend more time out here, huh?"

ed'Rashtekaresket nodded to the Milotic and slipped into the lake laughing quietly as a faint memory of tearing into a Remoraid came back. For whatever reason, Storm had followed him, though it was fine with him. The Salamence was probably scared of water or something.

"Alright, if I want to find you," he called, and ducked under the water. Storm pawed at the surface, trying to catch a glimpse of the Sharpedo below. As he surfaced to tell her off or invite her in, he hadn't decided, Storm blew a small puff of smoke at him.

"What do you have against her, the Milotic, I mean?" She muttered, keeping her voice down. "She's friendly enough, do you have to go and make enemies with everyone you meet? Or do you like her, or something?"

"It's not that," ed'Rashtekaresket snapped. "I want to leave, later. Go and live my life in peace."

"What? But don't you want to see how this all plays out, or what's going to happen? You wake up after three hundred years and learn humans have taken over the world, and you just want to let it alone? This could be something we have here!"

"It is something. That's why I don't want anything to do with it," he growled.

"Alright, but I'm staying. Go ahead and live in a puddle or something, killing small fish for your living, but I want to stay." That stopped the Sharpedo. Storm was always doing stupid things and getting into fights, without someone to steady her.. Even if he didn't like the Salamence that much, along with every other Pokemon on the planet, he still felt a bit of loyalty towards her. She was the only Pokemon in the world he knew, right now..

"Fine, I'll stay as well, if only to keep you from dieing the first day alone," ed'Rashtekaresket grumbled, and the Salamence grinned. He'd probably been tricked, he realized with a start, and slipped below the surface again.

Skaldia watched the Gliscor and Claydol with suspicion, but Sinar's words made her stop. "Keep out of my head." she snapped, but then it hit. "Wait... Lance. Lance, my trainer... he's inside?!" Her voice rose to a screech as she whirled around to stare at the cave. "Impossible. He's dead. He has to be dead." she rasped, wings flaring in agitation. "He's dead - he went in, and got trapped, and died. That's all." The Aerodactyl suddenly turned on Nicole, fangs bared. "You - you never found anyone else in there, right? You never found a human in the cave?" Her eyes were wild, and it was strange that just one statement could send her into such a rage.

((Ok, Lance plot has started. With me still being reluctant to play him, because he and Skaldia will be interacting so much. >< Ah well.))

Tanya soaked in the water of the lake, relaxing from the day's work. She dived underneath the surface, swimming around by propelling her body in a wavelike motion, using her tail as a paddle, then surfaced a little while later. The Milotic shook her head, the water flying from her head in the form of sparkling droplets. "Ah, this is so much better..." she spoke, then noticing the Salamence, she began to swim back to the shore. "Hello there... You're Ed's friend, right? What's your name?

Terra nodded, and turned to the Pokemon that had gathered behind her.

"You heard what she said; let's wrap everything up and clear out," said Terra, returning to where she had been working, as did the others.

((What else am I supposed to post? >>))

"Now then, this has been enjoyable, but I believe it is time I part ways with all of you," Zrantox said, "I do not know for what purpose we were awakened, but I am making it my personal purpose: eradication of humans."

He began to float away, but stopped when he heard the Aerodactyl mention Lance.

"Lance? That filth who locked us down there in the first place? Why would we want to find him?"

Well, actually, if he's not dead, then I would have motive to find him:Finishing the job!

-----
"Lance, eh?" Yatasori said, "Wasn't he that human who was the original champion? I've heard many things about that fellow."

The Gliscor was about to take flight when he heard the Dusknoir speak, but settled back down after the ghost stopped moving.

Only to start back up after the Dusknoir announced his intentions.

"Well, Effigei," he whispered, "Looks like the games have begun. Are you ready to begin pursuit?"

Prepared.

"Good. Now we must wait for them to go back into the cave," The Gliscor whispered, "We cannot let them find the champion. It would ruin everything."

((Considering the lack of remnants that I've seen in the surrounding area, I figure Zrantox would join in on the hunt for Lance, but for his reasons.))

((It's not that hard to RP interactions between two of your own characters... At least I don't find it that hard in Rift (in the Dimensions)...))

If I do not sufficient spend time outside the cave in the sun, my power will wane, and eventually all of my energy will be spent. At that point, I will perish., Sinar told Cole flatly.

Sinar turned it's attention to the Dusknoir. His motive was actually, somewhat, worrying, as a Pokemon killing the humans like that would only lead to reprisals. However, Sinar was not about to argue with the ghost. Then Sinar caught the Claydol's response.

Looking to the Gliscor, Sinar responded, I see. Then carry on.

Then I will investigate the chambers again., Sinar told everyone, turning and entering the cave again, and hoping the Gliscor and the Claydol could do their mission effectively.

((Speaking of Rift, I'm beginning to worry about it (again)))

Without speaking another word, Zrantox floated back down into the cave, turning invisible as he did so.

If the champion entered the cave but never came out, he either perished or chose to conceal himself. I am positive that I did not see him in the chambers, so if he did conceal himself, it would be in a hidden area.

I might as well start in the lowest part of the cave.

----
The moment Yatasori saw the Dusknoir enter the cave, he "heard" Effigei again.

Pursue.

"I know, I know," The Gliscor muttered, "I'm going to see if I can cut him off. If he finds Lance before any of the others do, he has no chance."

Yatasori took flight, turned around, and flew straight into the cave. Effigei emerged from his position- hidden behind trees that were on the side of the cave, but made no move to follow him.

"Guarding," The Claydol said as Yatasori turned around to ask him.

"Good thinking," The Gliscor replied, "Stay with them, and continue our mission."

And with that, he flew down into the cave.

Cole rolled her eyes. "Always so serious. You need to lighten up." she paused. "Hey…Do - Do you even have emotions?"

Suddenly the Dusknoir said something that scared her out of her wits. Eradicate humans? What?! He can't just kill everyone! …What if he tries to kill me?

The conversation moved quickly; suddenly for no apparent reason Ska-something; the Aerodactyl, started yelling about 'Lance', and asked her if she saw any other humans in the cave. "Not to my knowledge, no," she defended.

There was a lull in the conversation, broken by Sinar announcing that he was going back in. He was swiftly followed in by the Dusknoir, then a Gliscor that she hadn't noticed before, leaving behind a Claydol that appeared to be staying behind to…guard? Much as Cole loved the sun, she was curious. So much so, that she decided to follow them back. "Wait up!" She called brightly, running to catch up.

Discouraged that the Solrock had not answered her question, the Drapion followed Sinar out. It was nice to get air that was fresh and not dusty and old like the "atmosphere" in the Chambers. Mist looked up and checked around, startled by the surroundings. So this was Johto... she didn't remember coming here. But... if they were all the way in Johto...

How would she get back to the Great Marsh?

Confused, the Drapion crept around, examining her surroundings. There was a small Pokémon center in the distance, but... no sign of humans. Yet.... "What time is it? And where is the nearest town?" she asked, thoroughly perplexed.

Skidding to a halt, Cole called back, "Judging from the sun it's mid-afternoon. If you go straight north, past that Pokemon Center, you'll eventually get to Violet City. Also, Azalea Town is throughthe part of Union Cave we weren't digging in."

Satisfied with her answer, she left the Drapion and managed to catch up so she was walking beside Sinar. "Why are we exploring, again?"

Sinar paused for a moment on it's way into the cave.

Emotions, it told Cole, are strange forces only organics possess within their minds. As an inorganic, I lack such things.

I believe the nearest settlement is called Violet City., Sinar replied to the Drapion, We, however, are not free to enter. At least, I cannot advise it from what other Pokemon have told me. The city maybe under the watchful eye of hostile humans. My objective right now is to maintain your safety, and I cannot guarantee it in proximity to any human settlements. Do not let the Dusknoir know.

Sinar started on it's way back into the cave, but noticed Cole following it.

I believe that some important human known as Lance is sealed away in the chamber., Sinar explained to Cole, Do not tell the Dusknoir.

Mist looked surprised. She was about to ask why, but then she remembered what Tanya had said. Most humans were arrogant and hostile these days. Still, would that make a difference? What else could she do? Go elsewhere and sit under a rock?

"I want to find a way to stop the humans, though. Just like Tanya said." The Drapion was looking around, but remembered Tanya was gone. "Even though, I'm not exactly sure how to do it. Maybe the best way to do it would be to learn something about this world first."

"Don't worry," Cole shivered, "I'll be staying away from him. But…just because you're inorganic doesn't mean you can't have emotions. You're alive, aren't you. If you can live without a brain or blood or anything, why can't you feel emotion?"

Falling silent, digging through her memories of history lessons, she walked for a bit before adding, "Lance…he was…the first Champion, right?"

Zrantox floated ahead of the group, all the while making sure to retain his invisibility.

If I can find Lance before they do, I can deal my judgment. This will be made easier through stealth. Those fools will never-

Something slashed right through his noncorporeal form. Zrantox doubled over in pain, and looked up to see a black Gliscor staring him down.

"Did you really think that turning invisible would stop me?" The Gliscor said, "I've tracked ghosts who made a far better effort to remain undetected."

Zrantox got back up, and gathered dark energy. "You weak fools never cease to amaze me. Do you think you can stop me? Do you think anyone can stop me?!"

"I don't need to stop you," The Gliscor said, "Just slow you down."

Zrantox's response was to fire a Dark Pulse at the Gliscor.

Learn about this world..., Sinar beamed at the Drapion, The Milotic may help you more there. It has been over a millenia and a half since my arrival upon this world, yet I do not travel much.

Perhaps., Sinar responded to Cole, However, I will not die unless deprived of solar energy. My existence will continue, most likely, have been here 1,700 solar years already. I have theorized that many of these thoughts arise from the inherent limited lifespan of organic creatures. They feel the need to continue their legacy and breed, and thusly protect ones that they have deemed important, starting with family and mates. I do not breed. My kind are born of the sun, thusly we hardly have 'parents'.

Then, Sinar felt something. It had floated it's way closer to the chamber and was just now picking up a mental presence. It couldn't tell much, though, the mind was not thinking anything in particular. It's brainwaves were weak, in fact.

I believe I have discovered Lance. Still, vaguely, alive. Sleeping, in fact., Sinar told Cole, I have heard him called the first champion before, so we will go with that.

"Just because you don't…breed," Cole argued, "doesn't mean you can't feel happiness, or misery. Joy and anger and elatedness aren't related to our limited lifespan. They're because we live. And not everyone is concerned with continuing the line. Many choose specifically not to do so simply because they don't wish to."

Lance being alive came as a shock, although she soon realized that it was misplaced. "After all of this time? I mean, the Pokemon are alive, but they were in chambers…But I don't even know if the chambers do anything except hold them, so perhaps keeping the body in a frozen state of growth is part of the crystals?"

((ohcrapohcrapohcrap))
Storm looked up at the Milotic. "Hi!" She exclaimed. "I wouldn't say I'm Ed's-"

"ed'Rashtekaresket," the Sharpedo called from across the lake, hearing the hated short version of his name. "I said I'd drip water on you while you sleep if you call me Ed again," he grumbled, and ducked below the surface.

"Anyways," Storm continued cheerfully. "I wouldn't say I'm Ed's friend, since he pretends not to like me. I'm Storm, and I can swim too!" With that, she jumped into the water and flailed around, before ducking below the surface and waving to ed'Rashtekaresket, not too far below her.

"Stupid dragons," he grumbled, and snapped at a Remoraid that passed in front of him. Had prey gotten stupider? Storm burst out of the water and dragged herself onto the ground, shaking droplets of water everywhere. "Do you always have to be.." ed'Rashtekaresket snorted at the Salamence, and rose to the surface.

Skaldia had been waddling after Sinar, torn between relief - though the fact that she was relieved bothered her intensely - and anger. "It's impossible." she told both Cole and Sinar. "He can't be alive. He wasn't anywhere near the cave when I went in. He stayed away, I knew he did! He never had a reason to go in!" She was ranting now, causing far too much noise and screeching wordlessly in between sentences. "And stop calling him a champion. He was only champion of Johto, over one region - he was never good enough to beat the Elite Four of every region. He was weak, and compassionate, and he cared too much about everything." she spat, regardless if the other two wanted to know this or not. The Aerodactyl seemed intent on proving that Lance was both useless and dead, but considering Sinar seemed to have found someone sleeping in the cave, it was unlikely that he was dead. Useless, however, could be debated...

----

Deep in the cave, a secondary sleep chamber remained online, though the humming of the crystals inside was erratic. It had been considered a holding cell - some of the Pokemon had not arrived willingly, and if they had broken out, they would have inevitably gotten to the second one. It had its own, smaller machine that produced the waves of hypnosis, but when energy was no longer being diverted to the larger sleep chamber, the crystals could not take all of it, and began to crack. Despite this, the lone sleeping figure in the chamber did not wake.

There had always been differences between the minds of Pokemon and humans. Humans did not have such strong mental barriers, and were more easily affected by a Psychic attack. So it was no surprise that Lance didn't even stir as the humming of the crystals sped up.

((And here's my pathetic intro for the Lance post. Fwee.))

Tanya waited a little while for a response and watched the Salamence try swimming. After Storm arose back over the surface and climbed out, she then spoke in a soft voice to the Salamence. "Well Storm, I have to be going now. Please, take care of Ed Rashtekaresket for me... He seems to need you, as much as he doesn't want to say." Tanya climbed out of the water as well, slithering past Storm and heading into the remaining cave, toward the entrance, leaving a little trail of water from the lake behind her, from her wet, scaly skin.
