Open Dreams of the Past

Sinar came upon the chambers. All seemed empty, however, tracking the weak mental pulse of the human mind still slumbering away, it uncovered a smaller chamber placed near the back. It still lay sealed shut. Sinar pulled at it. This one proved to be sealed tighter than the others, though, and Sinar gave up.

Who are you?, Sinar simply asked of the human inside.

Seeing that Sinar was otherwise occupied by finding Lance, Cole sighed and ran her hands over the wall that Sinar had stopped in front of. She was assuming that there was another chamber behind it, but with no tools she wasn't likely to be much of a help. Well that's just great. Oh well, I won't have to do any work.

Effigei was hovering outside the cave when he heard the unmistakable sound of a Dark Pulse being fired. It was followed by the sound of something striking another something.

Beginning, he thought, floating into the cave.

Yatasori had warned him against this earlier. He had told the Claydol to be wary of the others. He had warned him that taking actions like these would cause suspicion in the eyes of the others.

Effigei did not care. The Claydol knew that in Yatasori's haste to stop the Dusknoir, he had forgotten one minor detail: the main purpose of their mission.

Allowing the other pokemon to find Lance would be against their mission.

With that in mind, he floated deeper into the cave. He knew that while Yatasori was caught up in battle, he would not see him.

The Dusknoir, on the other hand, might.
----
Yatasori lunged at Zrantox with a Night Slash readied. Zrantox's response was to quickly float to the side, and follow up with a backhand Shadow Punch. The blow sent the Gliscor flying, whereupon he slammed into the wall.

"Why do you try?" Zrantox said, readying another Dark Pulse, "I will kill you and then do the same to Lance. You cannot hope to even slow me down."

The Dusknoir loomed over Yatasori. "It's over. You have failed."

"Really?" Yatasori responded, flying up, "Because if you ask me, we've just begun!"

"Alright," Storm yelled unnecessarily loudly after the Milotic, whose name she still didn't get. With a shrug, Storm made a mental note to ask her next time and waved a wing at ed'Rashtekaresket. "Hey, hey, Ed, can you catch me something to eat," the Salamence asked enthusiastically, and grinned at him. The Sharpedo sighed, and waved a fin at her.

"Sure, sure," he muttered, and dove down again.

"And after, let's go see what's going on with everyone else," she yelled, and yelped as a Remoraid was thrown at her.

"There you go," ed'Rashtekaresket growled, and burst out of the water at her side. "Well, take your time, I guess. Try not to choke on a bone, or anything." Storm nodded brightly and gulped the entire thing down.

"Okay, let's go, then!" She sang, and skipped down the trail of water the Milotic had left. ed'Rashtekaresket sighed.

"You go ahead, I'll stay back here for a while," he mumbled and slipped back into the water, followed a moment later by a wave of displaced water, which of course, was Storm. "Or come back, doesn't matter," he groaned, and dove down again.

Kleh'Drentaht opened his eyes groggily. He was on his back... asleep? But for how long? Did it really matter? He was awake now and, by the way he felt, was ready to tear someone's head off. He rolled onto his side. This was not where he remembered going to sleep. Now that he thought of it, he couldn't remember anything. He had a horrible crick in his neck, and he rolled his head around a couple of times to get rid of it. He felt more stiff than ever before in his life. He tried to get to his feet, but fell over again. He snarled in annoyance. Eventually he managed to get into a standing position, and he began picking up his legs to loosen them up. As he was doing so, he looked around. Crystals..? He grunted, and turned towards what he though was the exit. Whatever this place is, he hated it (What else is new?) and wanted to leave as soon as possible.

Yatasori dove forward, preparing to unleash ice Fang. Zrantox, surprised by this sudden burst of speed, was struck, and felt his right arm go numb as it froze over.

"Why?" Zrantox repeated, "Why do you fight for them? They have surely and unjustly enslaved your kind as they have mine. Why do you fight to protect those who have wronged all of our kind?!"

Yatasori opened his mouth to respond, but stopped short when he saw Effigei shoot past them. The Claydol paid the battlers no heed as he flew deeper into the cave.

Zrantox started to go after the Claydol, but another Night Slash to his cold arm stopped him short.

"Your opponent is me," Yatasori said, "And There is something you should know: Effigei and I don't care about what has happened in the past. And neither should you. We fight to ensure pokemon training will never return. We want to make sure that nobody else experiences what you and so many others have. Is that not enough?"

Zrantox responded with a yell of rage, and slammed the Gliscor into the cave wall.

"It isn't," he said, "Humans don't deserve to live. There is no way that they can atone for their past mistakes. They must all die. And you, you who tried to help those vile creatures, will join them in death."

Skaldia snapped at the air. "Are you even listening to me, Solrock?" she demanded angrily. "He can't be alive! He had no reason to come into the chambers, he wasn't supposed to be anywhere near! Lance is dead, and we're going back for some other trainer you saw." Despite her shouting at an apparently deaf Pokemon, she was still following him all the way back to the chambers. As she passed, she spotted an Arcanine - another sleeper? It didn't matter, though. What mattered was that she was being ignored. "This is stupid! We should turn back!" By this time, she was facing what seemed to be a sealed doorway. Despite the fact that Sinar was staring at said doorway as if it was important, she decided to ignore it.

----

Who are you? The voice was flat, unemotional. It intruded on his dreams and bothered him. Something was... Something was wrong. With him. Yes. Something was wrong with him. He couldn't move, couldn't seem to remember what he had been doing. His name. That was important - his name... Lance. A string of titles followed that in his mind, titles he had earned. He didn't care if the voice could hear his thoughts or not. He felt too groggy to try and project anything.

...There were voices. Or maybe just one voice. He could hear it at the very edge of his hearing, harsh and loud. He knew that voice. It would have frustrated Skaldia even more if she knew that, in the other chamber, her trainer was smiling.

((Fail. x3 And Sinar is awesome for managing to ignore the giant hissy fit Skaldia's been having.))

Cole glared at the Aerodactyl, only slightly intimidated. "So you want us to just leave the person there to rot? Whoever it is, it's a person; a living being. Leaving him behind and never waking them is like killing them. Do you want to kill someone?" Turning back to the odd door, she added, "And you can't tell me you're not curious, Aerodactyl."

After her visit at the lakes, the Milotic began to head toward the exits, but before she could leave to catch up with the rest of the team, she had to pass by the chambers. As she slithered up to the hole, she could see an Aerodactyl entering it. Tanya quickly recognized it as one of the sleepers she had rescued, and followed her inside the chambers. Hearing the Aerodactyl's voice suddenly cry out in a kind of panic, Tanya rushed up behind her, lifting her head above her. "Is something the matter here? You found a trainer or something? She also saw the Solrock and Cole had already arrived, and turned her head, finally noticing the sleeping human. "Ah, so there is a sleeping human here... interesting."

If you wish to return, do so., Sinar finally told Skaldia, again in a monotonous manner, if thoughts could be monotone, However, you would be wrong in thinking that this Lance is dead. There are still brainwaves emanating off of that mind, even if they are weak. That is a sign of life in any scenario.

Sinar then gave it some thought, and asked of Skaldia, Why do you care what I do, anyway? You could have turned back long ago. If you are so intent on making me turn back, then my experience tells me that a secret that is most unpleasant hides within the chamber.

Lance? Would you be the single human I observed entering the chambers 300 solar years ago?, Sinar asked of the sealed human.

Effigei reached the chamber, and found the Solrock, the Aerodactyl, a human, and a Milotic all gathered near a sealed door.

"No," he whispered, flaoting forward. If the human was behind that door...

The mission would be a failure.
----
The Dark Pulse flared to life in Zrantox's hand. Having fully prepared it, he fired it straight at Yatasori.

The Gliscor fell to the ground.

"Good riddance," Zrantox muttered, floating away.

Several moments went by, and there was faint movement. A wing twitched, an eye flickered, and then stillness.

Several more moments went by, and then the unexpected happened:

Yata-Sasori jumped up, wings fully unfolded.

There are times, he reflected, when being able to stay perfectly still can come in handy.

He flew down the tunnel, knowing that he had to hurry.

He was racing against Death, after all.

63 decided to follow these other Pokemon. Remaining quiet and as unnoticeable as possible, 63 stayed a steady distance behind the Aerodactyl. They were searching someone, someone named...Lance? Was he another Pokemon? And what was this talk of a champion? Champion of what?

Eventually, 63 had been lead into another chamber, similar to the one that they had been in before. However, inside this one, everyone was gathered around a door, which was sealed shut. The others were talking about "Lance".

"Who's Lance?" 63 asked hesitantly.

((Not that great of a post D:))

((I thought we were in front of a sealed door and Sinar was communicating talepathically through it to Lance?))

Kleh'Drentaht was shocked when he heard someone ask, "Who's Lance?" What idiot didn't know about Lance? He followed the voice, and saw a group of pokemon standing around a sealed door. "Why don't we go find him? Then you'll see just how stupid of a question that is," he barked towards the group. Then he approached them, the beginnings of a snarl emanating from his throat. He was in a bad enough mood from being put to sleep for who knows how long, and being trapped in these stupid caves with idiotic pokemon who couldn't identify one of the greatest trainers ever. At the moment he was looking for a fight. He didn't even want to think about how long he'd been out of practice. When he finally reached the group, he snarled, "Instead of standing around the door, why don't you open it so we can all leave?"

"Stop!" Effigei yelled as he approached the group.

"Yes, stop," an all-too familiar voice rang out, "We wouldn't want you to find Lance, and start protecting him, now, would we?"

Zrantox floated down into the chamber. "Your partner's efforts to slow me down have failed, Claydol. Now I will take my revenge."

Sinar had to notice the Arcanine at that point.

Well, I would, but this is far safer., it briefly explained to the Arcanine.

And then Sinar noticed the Dusknoir, Zrantox, coming in, Though I have no specific reason to keep this Lance alive, it is certainly not within my overall goal of coexistence., it explained to everyone, So unless you can convince me as to how this human has wronged everyone, I won't let anyone here kill him.

However, Sinar added to the Claydol, it would certainly defy logic to face the ghost head on.

"Misinterpret," Effigei said to the Solrock.

Zrantox overheard this, and gave a harsh laugh

"Misinterpret indeed," Zrantox said tauntingly, "I know all about your mission, Claydol. You want to cut off all human-pokemon contact, in hopes that isolation will bring peace. I learned as much from the Gliscor before I silenced him."

"What?!" Effigei said, voice filled with unbridled rage.

"When your partner tried to slow me down, I quickly overpowered him and finished him. I don't know how that factors into 'your mission,' but you'll have to change that factor now."

It seemed that everyone had different ideals. Sinar wanted coexistance, the Claydol wanted isolation, the Dusknoir (ugh, Cole had to get everyone's names) wanted to kill everyone…well, all humans, and Pokemon in his way. But that added up.

She wasn't really sure if she wanted isolation or coexistance. Isolation sounded peaceful, but eventually wars among the people or between the people and Pokemon. It wouldn't stay peaceful. Then again, none of the options would bring eternal peace, but coexistance sounded the most desirable. Pokemon were every bit as smart as humans.

Again Cole's thoughts flew to the fact that the Dusknoir wanted to kill all humans, and she shrank back a little. Ending up behind Sinar, she leaned sideways to watch the conversation. Worst case scenario, the Dusknoir attacked her. But it would be harder if she was fairly protected.

"Safer? Safer than what? Safer than freedom?" he asked, "Why don't you explain what's going on here before I break that door open myself."

((I have failpostitis today. TT_TT))
