Re: Pokémon Registration Office

I'm going to give this a shot.

[Choque] Spiritomb [M]
Ability: Pressure
Signature Move: Horrid Shock

Since Choque was young, he has always had a love for scaring anyone and anything, often using his ghostly abilities to dissapear, and reappear in front of an unsuspecting victim. He enjoys the satisfaction of seeing someone jump and shriek when they see him. He is relentless with this habit, even scaring people who are elderly or sick. He, however, is careful not to scare those too frail of heart. He has learned to use this "hobby" as a powerful move in battles.

When Choque utilizes this move in battle, he vanishes into thin air, hidden from sight from everyone, and then in the next action, he reappears in front of his victim, often scaring them to their wit's end. He gains more satisfaction with this move when his foes are lower in health and energy, and often causes the most damage when his foes are at 25%-50% health or energy, and may cause abnormal status effects. If the victim has its health and energy both between the 25%-50% mark, the move does the most possible damage. Horrid Shock cannot be used when the opponent is below 25% health or energy, due to Choque's fear of hurting the opponent too much. The move can be used when the foe is above 50% health/energy, however it does not do as much damage and will not cause any abnormal status effects. This move can be used on normal types, however the move has no type disadvantages nor does it have any type advantages.

Type: Ghost / Stat: Physical / Damage: 3% (Foe HP/Energy > 50%); 10% (Foe HP/Energy between 25%-%50); 20% (Foe HP and Energy both between 25%-50%) / Accuracy: 100% / Target: Single / Energy: 6%
Effects: Choque disappears on one action and reappears on the next action, in front of the victim, scaring them. There are no stat disadvantages / advantages to this move. If the move is used when the victim has between 25%-50% HP/Energy, there is a 40% chance that the victim will be afflicted with Confusion, and a 10% chance that they will be afflicted with Paralysis. The move does an extreme amount of damage to Pokemon who have HP and Energy both between 25%-50%.
Usage Gap: If used on a Pokemon with HP/Energy greater than 50%, One Action
If used on a Pokemon with HP/Energy between 25%-50%, Four Actions
If used on a Pokemon with both their HP and Energy being each between 25%-50%, the move cannot be used until the next Pokemon is sent out / the match ends.

Just say that this attack is not affected by weaknesses or resistances--much easier to type out and there's no confusion on what you mean by "stat." However, why is this attack effective on normals and so on? It doesn't seem fundamentally from other ghost attacks that work by surprise (e.g. astonish), and normals resist those fine.

Why does the move cause the status effects listed?

What happens if health is between 25% and 50% but energy is >50%?

Nix the convoluted usage gap and make it eight actions.

Overall, I'm not seeing why, exactly, this attack works as it does, based on the description. The way it's written up now it really just sounds like it's a faint attack that takes two actions to execute instead of one. I can't say that I see a huge 20% damage for something that's essentially "BOO!"

Remember: it isn't a body mod if it doesn't have an actual effect. It's just an alternate appearance. If you want it to be a body mod then give it an effect; if not, then just list the color changes as "notes" or something.

Re: Pokémon Registration Office

Going to try out the whole signature move thing... now that I actually have an idea for one, heh.

Viney Jr. (Bellsprout ♂) (approved here)
Ability: Chlorophyll
Signature Move: Red Leaf

Viney Jr. is the descendant of a Victreebel family from a distant land, known for their unusual leaves which appear to have a slight reddish sheen to them when viewed from certain angles. This reddish color originally came from the insects they ate, which in turn had fed from the leaves of the tropical plants that are used to make Power Herbs and White Herbs; over many generations, however, the chemicals contained within these plants became a part of the Pokémon's own leaves.

The chemicals that make Power Herbs and White Herbs work exist within Viney's leaves, though normally they are not in a high enough concentration to have any effect. In battle, however, Viney is capable of concentrating these chemicals into a small part of one leaf and then biting a chunk out of that leaf, duplicating the effects of either a Power Herb (allowing him to use a "charge up before attacking" move, like Solarbeam, without charging), a White Herb (returning any lowered stats he might have to normal), or both at the same time.
Concentrating the chemicals into one part of a leaf requires a bit of effort, and actually biting off part of the leaf does hurt a bit. Also, because each leaf only contains enough chemicals for a single use, he can only do this twice per battle (though when he evolves into a Weepinbell or Victreebel, this limit may increase, since he'll have bigger leaves.)

Type: Grass
Stat: Other
Accuracy: N/A
Target: Self, or any ally
Effects: Viney Jr. concentrates certain plant chemicals into the tips of his leaves, then bites a chunk out of one leaf to recieve the effects of the chemicals. This duplicates the effect of either a Power Herb, a White Herb, or both. In any battle with more than one Pokémon on each side, he can give the tip of a leaf to one of his allies instead of using it himself.
Cost: 2% HP and 2% energy.
Usage Limit: Twice per battle.

Looks good to me, but you need to have a usage gap included with the limit - how long Viney Jr. has to wait between uses of the move, not just how many times he can use it, in other words.

Re: Pokémon Registration Office

You say that this attack may have the power of a white herb, a power herb, or both--how is that determined? If you can *choose* what it's going to be, you'll need to up the penalties on the attack.

Team approved. The colors aren't a problem.

Re: Pokémon Registration Office

Usage gap... hmm. I was thinking that there wouldn't be one, but I guess one round would also work--mainly to keep the "spam multiple Solarbeams/Leaf Storms in a row with no side-effects" situation from being a problem.

As for the effects; well, both of the Herbs are pretty situational, so I guess it would have both effects every time it's used... but in most cases only one of them would actually do something. Like if he doesn't have any stats lowered when he eats the leaf, the White Herb effect would trigger but wouldn't really do anything, and if he's not going to use any charge-before-use moves that round, the Power Herb effect would trigger but wouldn't do anything.

As for possibly increasing the costs: would boosting the self-damage up to 5%, so it's more like the damage from an un-STAB'ed Bite (since that's essentially what's causing the damage), be enough to balance it out?
