• Welcome to The Cave of Dragonflies forums, where the smallest bugs live alongside the strongest dragons.

Guests are not able to post messages or even read certain areas of the forums. Now, that's boring, don't you think? Registration, on the other hand, is simple, completely free of charge, and does not require you to give out any personal information at all. As soon as you register, you can take part in some of the happy fun things at the forums such as posting messages, voting in polls, sending private messages to people and being told that this is where we drink tea and eat cod.

Of course I'm not forcing you to do anything if you don't want to, but seriously, what have you got to lose? Five seconds of your life?

Open Rift in the Dimensions

"Take..." Taiko prepared an Ember in his mouth. "...This!" he fired it at the Absol. He continued firing Embers. "What... The... Heck?!" Taiko started glowing. His form started changing. He started to grow minicannons on his back. He grew to be either bi-or quadrupedal. His ears seemed to grow flatter, and his face bulged out a little bit. "Seriously... I feel different... Hey! I'm a Tycano now!"

Link blocked the Absol's attack just in time with his shield and countered with a quick slash with the master sword. Meanwhile, Chell kept using portals to try and drop heavy objects like chairs and frozen-in-time people on the Pokemon.

"Woah! What happened?" Tails said to Taiko.

Sonic, however, kept up the assault, ducking and weaving around the hailstones and punting the Absol, which had been knocked back with Link's sword, in the face. More embers flew in its face, but it was so enraged it didn't care. It bobbed and dodged the things dropping from the ceiling, but it tripped over a little girl...and then it froze. Like everyone else, it just stopped moving. The man in the corner had frozen, too. His face carried a terrified expression.

"I... I think I... evolved!" Taiko exclaimed.

((SHORT BE SHORT but it was all I had to say :P))

The human and the Absol stopped. Time had stopped for them, suddenly, and except for the remaining hailstorm, it was mostly quiet again. Taunos held his hand out to the searing totem and cast a small spell. The totem suddenly shut off, and part of the mana returned to him. Taunos gathered it up after that.
"Instantaneous evolution? An interesting trait, to say the least.", Taunos said, then continued, "Is everyone alright?"

And now the the Pokemon creature and the human froze suddenly, just like the rest of the people in the town. Why was this happening?! More importantly, would they freeze too? He imagined the group frozen where they stood for all eternity, and shivered. They needed to leave. Immediately.
"What in the name of Nayru..?"
"Who?"
He looked up momentarily.
"Goddess of time."
Chell nodded and switched off the portal gun. She didn't know what was going on here exactly, but the people and creatures here seemed in control. It would be okay.. maybe.

"Yeah..." Sonic said, rubbing his head where he had been beaned by several hailstones.

"I hope those pokemon outside are still alright..."Tails said, "Maybe we should go talk to them and see more of what happened here."

Sand looked at Taiko. "You evolved. Congrats." He held up Frosslass's Pokéball and pressed the button. "Return."

Bara just stared at the Absol and man. "What is wrong with Dailga?"

((This just hit me. Is the Reverse World one big black poisonous cloud now?))

((Not quite a cloud, per se, but kind of. It's more of a gradual influence in the surroundings that gets worse as one gets closer to its point of origin. And yes, it is coming from an established universe. I'm not telling which one until we get there, though.))

"By the way..." Tails asked Bara and Sand, "Who's this 'Dialga' you keep mentioning? Is there a possibility that it could help us?"

"Also, did you notice something kind of...wrong with the plants?" Sonic pointed out. He was right: The trees were bare, the shrubs nothing more than sticks, and the sky was an off-color sort of blue.

((Dernit, I forgot to mention this detail))

"Dialga holds up the time part of space-time," Sand said.

"And no one knows how to go to it..." Bara muttered, "And, no, I didn't notice the plants. Maybe something's wrong with Celebi, too..."

"Hmm yes. It is as if the Earth Mother has forsaken this place. If no race's deity can stop this, then I hope we mortals can do it once again. Anyway, where do we head from here? The next direction is hard to discern because the corruption is everywhere here.", Taunos said.

"I think we should stay here and look for clues," Sand said. "Besides, we don't have any idea where this is coming from. But at the same time, I wonder what'll happen to us..."

((No Skymin, in the 11th movie, Reverse World, the world that Satoshi-tachi go to, fixes space-time abnormalities by making poisonous black clouds. That's what I'm talking about.))

((Ah. I haven't seen that movie yet. Yeah, probably, if that's how it works, because this is one mother of an anomaly.))

Vai resheathed her daggers, looking at the frozen Pokemon.
"Hey, why are we not affected by this? That dog thing froze right in front of us, and so did that person. But we're okay..." Or will we be next? Vai instinctively thought of the symbol that would turn her to shadow, before shaking her head.

"I have no idea..." Tails said, "It's kind of odd how we're not being affected. Maybe it's something we'll find out later."

((LOL, I don't have an explanation for this at the moment... >_>))

"Some individuals have been chosen by something we mortals can only call destiny to be truly recorded by history, to do great deeds within their lifetimes that could shape the fate of races. Maybe that's what we are here.", Taunos mused, "I suspect dumb luck, too, however.", he added with a chuckle.

Chell shrugged and added cheerfully,
"Or we're all just stupid little test subjects that randomly happened to end up together, and we're all just waiting to get tossed in the incinerator and die horrible, excruciatingly painful deaths at the nonexistent hands of psychotic AI's."
Link was silent a moment and laughed nervously, more than a little freaked out.
"I, uh, get the impression you're not too into destiny and that sort of thing."

Vai grinned at Chell.
"Well, we'll take out as many people or monsters as we have to on the way."
To Taunos; "My luck is probably better than anyone here's, but yeah."
((Oh no I referenced Maple Story in a way probably only Evoli will understand >_> Or anyone who tabletop RPs. :D))

((I used to play D&D regularly and have DM'd a GURPS campaign before, but still don't get it. >.> Unless you just mean luck as a stat, which neither D&D nor GURPS have as a stat. <.<))

Taunos laughed a little, "Many believe only in free will, nothing wrong with that. While her wording is a bit macabre, some do believe that the world is a giant sandbox for whatever forces they believe in. Anyway, we'd better get to investigating this city."
