Welcome to The Cave of Dragonflies forums, where the smallest bugs live alongside the strongest dragons.
Guests are not able to post messages or even read certain areas of the forums. Now, that's boring, don't you think? Registration, on the other hand, is simple, completely free of charge, and does not require you to give out any personal information at all. As soon as you register, you can take part in some of the happy fun things at the forums such as posting messages, voting in polls, sending private messages to people and being told that this is where we drink tea and eat cod.
Of course I'm not forcing you to do anything if you don't want to, but seriously, what have you got to lose? Five seconds of your life?
For Ampharos.

Arena: Legislature Grounds of British Columbia
Victoria, British Columbia is known for many things, of which the beautiful harbor, the telescope, and the large amounts of rain are just a few. However one of the most stunning areas of the city is the Legislature buildings, home to the provincial government. The white-walled, green-roofed building displays both intimidation and beauty, with the golden statue of Captain James Cook looking on from the tip-top of the building. However, the battlers today have not come for a tour of the building, but rather, for a battle.
In front of the building is a massive lawn, trimmed to perfection. Off to one corner is the war memorial, and in the center is a small stone fountain for water-Pokémon, but besides that it is a flat expanse perfect for battling. Across the street is the harbour itself, tourists and buskers milled together to form a pleasant scene. However, the battlers won't be going that far.
Each team of Pokemon will start around the fountain (or in it in the case of something like a Goldeen) on one side of the path that intersects the lawn. The battlers can move throughout the large expanse as much as they want, but running across the lawn would take an action at least. As the area is very sacred to British Columbian heritage attacks that hit the building itself will result in a government officer banning that Pokemon from using the said move for the duration of the battle.

Arena: The Colosseum
The Colosseum is a large sandy expanse, with a huge crowd of spectators, and an open sky. The perfect place for a battle. Every round, there is a equal chance that one of the following effects:
- The crowd throw random food items at the pokemon. The pokemon eat one food item, 5% health is restored
-The crowd throw random trash at the pokemon. The pokemon are hit by some trash, -5% health is lost.
-A rabid Delcatty is released into the arena, and attacks one pokemon. -10% normal type damage.
-A Delcatty is released into the arena, and heals one pokemon. 10% health is restored.
-A flock of Swellow fly over, and drop peas into the battlefield. -1% damage for every pea that hits a pokemon (5% chance of being hit by a pea.)
-Reshiram and Zekrom appear, and have a fight over the arena. A pokemon has a 3% chance of being hit by a stray blast, that deals 15% dragon type damage to the pokemon.
-Reshiram appears, and boosts all fire type attacks by 1% damage and 1% accuracy.
-Zekrom appears, and boosts all electric type attacks by 1% damage and 1% accuracy.
-Some rain starts, and decreases all pokemon's accuracy to 75% regardless of ability.
-A time-space rift opens above the arena, and slowly sucks all pokemon on the battlefield into it (Although it is closed before they enter it.) decreasing their speed and agility to 75% regardless of ability.
Other: Only non-evolved pokemon may be used (Pokemon which do not evolve, eg: Skarmory, Chatot etc) Items have no effects.
Yay for more complex battles!

Arena: The Nether
The Nether is a vast, fully sentient abyss of nothingness, designed to wreak havoc on anyone or anything inside of it. Naturally, this is not the most ideal place to have a battle, but the residents of Asber have never been those who would back down from a challenge. The actual battle takes place on a floating platform, identical to those found in Pokémon centers, with normal gravity and temporal mechanics, as well as reinforced walls to prevent any Pokémon from falling off. However, the Nether still has a say, and at the beginning of the first round, as well as the end of every round, one of the following effects will occur:
1. The Nether will open up a rift in space-time, summoning the effects of a Pokemon's arena effects. Each of these (Sunny Day, Rain Dance, Sandstorm, Hail, Gravity, Trick Room, Magic Room, Wonder Room) counts as its own effect, and thus can stack with each other. (5% chance for each effect)
2. The Nether will take pity on a random battler, curing all their status conditions and preventing them from gaining any other status conditions. When this effect fades, all status conditions purged by this effect return; however, a Pokémon can use restorative moves during the period where their statuses are removed to prevent them from returning. This can affect both battlers without an overlap. (10% chance)
3. The Nether will bend the forces of space-time around one of the Pokémon in the arena, allowing them to attack instantly and prevent their opponent from dodging. While this is in effect, the targeted Pokémon has perfect accuracy for all damaging moves. This can affect both battlers without an overlap. (10% chance)
4. The Nether will adjust its own laws, changing the amount of damage a Pokémon is able to deal before it interferes. When this is selected, the damage cap is rerolled; this does not remove other effects when it is selected, and stays in effect until a new damage cap is chosen. (20% chance)
5. The Nether will change the space around the arena, replacing the battlers with each other. Each Pokémon will transform into an exact duplicate of its opponent, but will keep its own status changes and stat boosts. If a Pokémon faints while this is under effect, this effect will disappear. If this is selected while it is already in effect, the two Pokémon simply transform back into their original forms - the other effects stay in place. (10% chance)
6. The Nether will lose control on the arena, resetting any of its effects. (10% chance)
Other: The damage cap is generated at the beginning of the first round, and does not change unless effect 4 is chosen. Have fun.

Arena: White City Stadium
White City is located on an island not terribly far from Johto; Olivine runs a ferry to and fro twice a day. The centerpiece of the popular tourist destination is the huge stadium situated between the amusement park and GB Tower where tournaments are held almost daily. It's Poké Cup season and brand new Trainers are itching to join the league fray. The stadium is a very neutral turf, with a neatly-trimmed grass surface and a clay platform in the middle shaped like a Poké Ball. Glass panels are raised high around the perimeter of the battling grounds to protect the audience of well over 10.000 without obscuring their vision -- damaging these panels will incur a disqualification penalty for the offending Pokémon. Fortunately, they're highly reinforced and it would take a very significant impact to even make a scratch.
Other notes: Held items, Pokémon modifications, and unofficial Pokémon are not permitted. A newer player would be preferred as this is my first battle in years (and things have changed a lot since). Zhorken will be reffing.
