Open The Hunt for The Ceus Stone

"But...I could have sworn they were real. They were lying there...and bleeding and..."

Lux looks down at the ground, certain that she saw what she saw. She could smell them on her, the reek of death on her scales. She couldn't have dreamt it...

Or maybe I did...Dad never lied to me before...

She glances up at him and notices the claws. Something in her gut tightened at the sight of Zangoose's claws, but loosened. This was something she had to live with since her father was her kind's enemy.

"...Are they...Dangerous?"

Ride decided that he should stay away from foresty regions from now on. He wasn't a shroomish anymore, and it was hard to navigate through all the weird bushes now that he was about three feet taller than he originally was. Also, it was strange to be in a place so green, without any volcanic ashes floating around.

The breloom shrugged to himself and continued pushing through the undergrowth. At least it's nice and cool under the trees, and he hasn't been attacked by strange-looking pokemon yet. Ride started to hum a little ditty he made up on the spot, before seeing a strange white thing a little while away with a strange purple thing. "Yo there, mate!" Ride called out cheerfully, happy that he has finally found someone after hanging around by himself for so long. He was getting bored. "How 'd you do?"

"I don't know. You're going to be alright, that's all that matters..." Joshua told Lux softly, removing his other paw from her scaled forehead. He gave her what he hoped was a reassuring smile - it turned out to be more of a worried grimace - and sniffed at the air.

It was then he heard a voice. A very loud one.

"Yo there, mate! How 'd you do?" The voice called.

The Zangoose spun to face the place the voice was coming from, and his other claws shot out of his paw. He made a funny hissing yelp sound, but lowered his raised arms - just a tad - when he saw the Breloom. He'd seen one or two of these creatures...they weren't too dangerous. One Aerial Ace and they tended to drop fast. He decided to humour this one.

"I'm...alright I suppose." He said, his voice warm and friendly, though there was the faintest edge of dangerous sharpness there.

Ponos was resting in a tree, it was safer there, then on the ground, although that did not really matter, but it wouldn't be resting if he had to fight off attackers.

He took out a flute from his bag, his uncle Hypnos had given it to him, and taught him to play. Hypnos did, at times, look overshadowed by his twin brother, Thanatos, who was stronger and the more well-known of the two, but Hypnos was calmer and better at everyday tasks, so they balanced each other out.

His trip in family history burst like a bubble in his mind when he heard voices nearby. "having company wouldn't be so bad" Ponos thought, and decided to draw the attention to him, as it was easier then finding them. He put the flute to his mouth and began playing, a simple, yet soothing melody.

((We know who you are))

(bah... dunno where to start.)

Kaleb's middle and right heads blinked. He was in a grassy plain, flowers surrounding him. It seemed to him, but probably only to his crazed mind, that the grass here was slightly longer than that which he had passed. He looked down at the body of the victim of his latest hunt. A lowly Zigzagoon. It had been an easy fight, it died with two blasts of a Tri Attack.

He put one of his head down quickly, and slit open the Zigzagoon's throat. Blood poured out, and he drank it, all three of his heads.

After a while, his beaks covered in blood and gore, and he had feasted upon the Zigzagoon's body, He sat.

'Now,' he thought 'from my last informant, i heard that the ceus stone is to the north of here. However, he's probably wrong. He would of used it if he knew where it was. Hmm.' He decided that the best choice would be to sleep on it. He drooped his left and right head down, his middle head staying on watch, and went to sleep.

Malum turned around to find that Horus was surrounded by varying cat pokemon, and a Turtwig and Tyranitar had turned up.

Oh, great. I leave that idiot alone for ten seconds and he's already gotten himself in trouble. Must I do everything here?

Knowing that the answer was in the question, he floated back in time to catch Horus saying: "...my friend and I were just heading away from here," he made several movements backward, "and these pokemon showed up asking for my research, which is classified, not to mention unreadable. I can't believe you'd think I transcribe all this information before we set out. I anticipated something like this happening and-"

"You and yours have come too late," Malum said flatly, "This Staraptor has already allied with me, and I don't take well to others cutting themselves a slice of the information he has."

He began to gather kinetic energy, all the while sending a telepathic message to Horus:

Ascend as fast as you can.

Horus nodded, and after quickly putting the tablet back in his bag, he flew directly upwards as fast as his wings could carry him.

"Now then, as for you..." Malum turned to face the Delcatty. "Tell me, what use would you have gotten from his tablets? They bear an inscription that is incoherent to you. I know little of your kind," he snarled, putting as much disgust as a Bronzong could on those last two words, "but I doubt any among you understand the language of The Old Vanguard."

Up above, Horus realized that Malum might have been pulling the Delcatty's tail in the wrong direction. What he was saying had thick contempt layered all over it, and if he weren't careful, the Bronzong could end up buried beneath countless cat pokemon.

Hopefully, it won't come to that.

The area is serene and calm. Krae is resting under a tree, using psychic to pluck an apple from the tree and ate it. Once finished, he got up, and looked to the sky for the direction, north. Once found, he dashed off into that direction using aura keep an eye out for anything suspicous. He grinned as he ran. "He will find the stone first"

"You're so silly. It doesn't matter if I can't read it. Not if we've got your bird friend," she rocked her head back and forth impatiently. "And if we must, we'll take the tablet and sell it. I bet it's worth a lot!" Ruby shot a sideways glance at Horus, who, for some reason, had flown up.

Gladys crept forward towards his mistress and murmurred in her ear, "I sense a psychic disturbance. If it's the Bronzong's doing like I think it is..."

Ruby yowled before Gladys could finish, rousing her cats. They tightened their formation around Ruby, a few turning around to face the other newcomers. Gladys took a challenging step toward Malum.

"G'd to know, buddy," Ride answered, grinning as he headed towards the couple, "It's g'd to see a face 'fter wandering 'round for so long." The weird white thing turned out to be a Zangoose, and the purple thing, a small Serviper. The Zangoose looked a bit alarmed, but Ride paid it no mind -- he seemed pleasant enough, even with these dangerous-looking claws. Ride decided that he should probably ask for some directions before continuing on -- he hasn't seen a soul in days, and he might miss an opportunity for some new information on the Ceus Stone, as well as make some new friends -- always a good thing to do.

"Say, you know which direction's north? I've b'n wondering around in this forest for a while, and can't quite figure out where's where anymore," Ride said casually, plopping himself down on the ground next to the Zangoose. He noted that Zangooses usually don't hang around next to Servipers, and decided not to ask -- that Zangoose might not appreciate it.

"You clearly have no idea who you're dealing with," Malum warned, his body glowing as he did so, "You have no right to buy Horus, or what he carries with him. His information belongs to us. Not to weaklings such as yourselves. This is your last warning: leave us, or face destruction."
----
Horus knew he should do something. Some sort of attack against the cat pokemon.

He didn't want to leave his ally to face these savages alone.

And yet he felt as if there was nothing he could do that wouldn't pose a risk to anything. He couldn't abandon his research, and attacking could damage the tablets.

Even so... I have yet to see Malum in battle. Should this escalate, I'll be able to find out if he's as dangerous as he appears.

Joshua moved a bit so he was more in front of Lux than he had been, between her and Ride, his face mostly expressionless and calm, with just the slightest frown. He let his claws retract into his paws, but they were ready to strike out if he needed to use them. He pointed a finger to the north when the Breloom asked, and tilted his head to the side a bit.

"That way, why do you ask?" He said, lowering his paw after a few moments. "Looking for something?"

"Thanks, mate!" Ride replied cheerfully and stood up again. The Zangoose seems really defensive of the tiny Seviper... Whatever. None of his business. He peered at the direction the Zangoose pointed at -- great, more forest. Oh well. Just as he was about to set off, the Zangoose peeped up.

"You looking for something?"

Ride shrugged. "Sure, mate, if you say so," he responded casually. There's no harm talking about the Ceus Stone, he decided, since everyone probably know about the myth already -- it was such a hot topic that the last Taillow he had met had nearly prattled his ears off. And that was just the Taillow. "You heard 'bout the Ceus Stone?" The Breloom asked, noting that, thankfully, the Zangoose had sheathed his claws. "Heard from a crazy Taillow that it's up north."

"The Stone?"

Lux slithers out from behind her father and up to the Breloom. She lifts herself up so she was able to look the creature eye to eye. She lifts her tail and swishes it lazily behind her.

"You know of the Stone? Is it North? Dad, we need to go north it seems! Let's go!"

She slithers back to her father and wraps herself around him, resting her head on his and grins at the Breloom.

"Thanks for the tip!"

Joshua didn't say anything, at least not until Lux suddenly slipped around him and got close to the Breloom, standing on her tail and moving so quickly. She shouldn't exert herself so! He frowned, and petted her head when she curled around him again. He looked at her, a stern look on his face.

"Please be more cautious, you could go into shock..." He scolded, seeming to forget that Ride was there. "We will go north then, Luxy, just don't exert yourself too much. You should take your medicine..."

He rummaged through a small bag slung around his shoulder and withdrew a small leaf wrapped around a mixture he had made for her and offered it to the young Seviper.

Lux sighed and leans her head down, taking her medicine and shudders from the bitter taste.

"Dad. I'm feeling fine, I'm ok...I have more energy than I know what to do with. You need to relax...mo...re..."

Lux shudders, dropping back onto her father and her eyes half open a bit. She let out a mournful sound.

"...But...I felt so good...but now..."

She closes her eyes and turns her head away, a tear rolling down her dark face.

"When will I ever be better..."

Lars, seeing the two groups started fighting, decided it was time to retreat. He ran to the north, the direction he came from, and Ace silently followed him.

Shortly afterwards, they heared voices. Lars sped up, soon noticing a seviper and Zangoose near each other, surprisingly not busy killing each other, and a hippy looking Breloom.

The Breloom mentioned a crazy Tailow, making Ace fall on the ground laughing, blowing their cover up as his laughter sounded like an avalanche caused by Dialga's roar of time.

Lars slapped his face, and then started moving his head leaves in a 'waving hand' like movement, while slowly moving forward, Ace following him and still chuckling.

Lars decided to examine the Breloom, noticing there was something about him he was sure he had seen before. He was just not sure why. "Hey there!" He saird loudly and in a friendly voice, hoping the two groups, that were, as a side note, much smaller than the ones they saw before, wont start attacking them.

Ruby hissed and slunk backward, leaving Gladys and her minions at the front.

"We do have you fairly outnumbered, however. I would consider 'destruction' an empty threat." Gladys beckoned to the feline Pokemon telepathically, and a Flareon stepped forward. Without hesitation, it lunged, flames streaming from its mouth.

"But we may as well see how you fare against one."

Malum shot a blast of kinetic energy at the Flareon. It stopped, inches away from striking him, the flames that it was about to blast fading away.

The Flareon was now suspended in midair, and under Malum's complete control

"It's the most interesting thing, telekinesis," Malum said, as if talking to students, "If the target is weak enough, I can do what I want with it. For example..."

He gestured with an appendage, and the Flareon reared back, and then rocketed toward the Delcatty.

And that's just the beginning.

Well, at least the Seviper seem happy, Ride noted. "No problem, mate," he replied cheerfully with a wave. It didn't surprise him that the Zangoose and the Seviper knew about the Ceus Stone, since everyone knew about the stone. The young Seviper had seemed almost lifeless before, but now she's almost flying with energy from the mention of the stone. Then the Zangoose mentioned some sort of sickness and handed the Seviper some medicine, and the Seviper slunk back into her lifeless state again.

Ride watched with mild curiosity. Besides the strange father-daughter role the two pokemon, usually natural enemies, seemed to have, there seemed to be something wrong with the Seviper. The crying Seviper quickly aroused sympathy within the Breloom, and Ride hopped over to comfort her. "Hey, kid, no worries! 'Course you'll get better! You're so young and still have so much ahead of you, so have some trust in the future!" The Breloom said brightly, "I mean, you're looking for the Stone, too, right? I'm sure it'll cure you once you find it. I mean, Arceus's not a bad guy after all, so his powers must do some good."

Then, from out of nowhere, a long booming noise sounded. "Crikey!" Ride yelped in surprise, turning to face the source, which he quickly made out to be a large dragon-thing and a small turtle-thing. The small turtle-thing yelled a greeting, and Ride waved back. "G'd day!" He said, grinning. More faces! Perhaps they can cheer the poor Seviper up.

Joshua continued to stroke Lux's scales softly, seeming oddly tender and caring towards her for a Zangoose, but since he was her father, it was to be expected. He nuzzled her cheek slightly and wiped away her tears.

"Luxy dear, just take your medicine, just until I find a cure...you've been so brave. Your mother, rest her soul, would be so proud of you. Though you cannot see her, she is here with you. We will always be here for you..." He said softly.

When the loud noise sounded, he jerked up and his claws shot out, and one paw reached up and gently removed Lux as quickly as he could and coiled her on the ground. He darted towards the new appearances - a Turtwig and a Tyranitar - with his razor blade claws at the ready. He made a loud yowling sound, and his claws shone with a pale green.
