• Welcome to The Cave of Dragonflies forums, where the smallest bugs live alongside the strongest dragons.

Guests are not able to post messages or even read certain areas of the forums. Now, that's boring, don't you think? Registration, on the other hand, is simple, completely free of charge, and does not require you to give out any personal information at all. As soon as you register, you can take part in some of the happy fun things at the forums such as posting messages, voting in polls, sending private messages to people and being told that this is where we drink tea and eat cod.

Of course I'm not forcing you to do anything if you don't want to, but seriously, what have you got to lose? Five seconds of your life?

Abortion

We are not killing a fucking person, we are killing a clump of cells that does not feel anything and could potentially make everyone's life miserable, including their own.
And look, even if abortion was illegal, like it was in Portugal until about a year ago, people will still perform horribly risky abortions that put the girl in great risk. You know, coat hangers et al. Do we really want to endanger some girl's life because she destroyed an inert clump of cells?
kill all women with periods kill all men who masturbate bomb humanity

can we please get back to the bit where a foetus is quite literally a parasite in the mother's body for nine months? how anyone can argue against a woman's right to remove said parasite is beyond me.

also, why does no one object to the separation of siamese twins in which one is likely to die?

I don't like abortion. If the mother doesn't want a baby, give it to an adoption center (or whatever it's called).

Are you female? Hm? If not, you're not allowed to make that decision.

It's ridiculous that guys would be trying to convince women to not have abortions.

Voluntarily, go for it. But the operation for that (especially on a female) isn't pretty (or cheap). I've seen it done on animals and oh dear god.

Uh, neutering and spaying of animals (Or at least pets) isn't THAT bad. I've only watched a few spays, but from what I've watched, it's merely a procedure that cuts open the skin at the abdomen and removes the ovaries while tying off some other tubes. All this happens while under anesthetic and having vitals monitored. I've seen plenty of things bloodier than that.

Anyways, couldn't the mother just wait until the baby's born, then put it up for adoption?

You do realize the trauma the mother would go through if she allows her body to let the baby grow, go through the pains of child birth, then watch it be carried off to a shelter where it may end up in a shitty life, do you not? Real life is not like Juno. People are not going to get that lucky.

So you want them to be miserable for nine months until they get to have a day filled with a hell of a lot of pain and then they get rid of it? What?

and then of course the child is quite possibly going to rot in foster care for eighteen years until they're out on their own without much in the way of prospects

also it would be completely ridiculous if the procedure for sterilization of humans was the same as pets. people need those hormones.

You were a parasite once >:|

I object >:|

EDIT: Contributing to the subject, I feel that people are knowingly aware of the risks of sex, and if they didn't want a child, then that's the responsibility they have to accept. I just simply feel it's wrong not to give it a chance.

And you know how they don't feel pain how?

We don't. However, you could also argue that cutting down plants is morally wrong because we don't know if they feel pain; all possible evidence points to the contrary, though, so we're going to have to go with that (also, you sort of need a nervous system to feel pain. explain how a ball of cells is meant to have a nervous system?).

Arguably, we are mere clumps of cells also, you know.

This line of thought leads nowhere. You need to draw the line somewhere, otherwise every single thing should be afforded the same rights as humans since all life is, after all, a mere clump of cells.

I do think it's morally wrong. Sure it's a little over-the-edge, but I think herbicide goes unnoticed too much. The inevitable is inevitable I guess.

Also, the nervous system starts to develop ~week four, so.

Why should humans be valued more than any other lifeform. It's because we ourselves are human, isn't it?

Question: Do you eat meat? Just curious.

There are other reasons for abortions. What if you're married, but just can't afford the child? What if your own life is in danger, and you don't want to bring a child into that? Again, what if the child is a product of rape, and you cannot bear to keep a tangible reminder of that traumatic experience?

Yes, I eat food, thank you.

Don't have sex if you can't afford a child ?_? Common Sense 101

What if your own life is in danger, and you don't want to bring a child into that?

That's like the one iffy thing for me. Something's gonna die, but eh :\

Again, what if the child is a product of rape, and you cannot bear to keep a tangible reminder of that traumatic experience?

Oh, sure. Screw the child over it. It's not like it was at fault for anything.
