Bug Bites

Phantom

Uh, I didn't do it.
Mosquitos, spiders, whatever, bug bites SUCK. Where's the worst place you've ever had one? Was it the webbing in between your thumb and fore finger? Your ankles? Inside of your finger? You eye? Somewhere unmentionable?

How do you get rid of them? I mean beside the "normal" approaches.

Like me, I have one on my little finger right now, like on the inside toward my ring finger, and it is slowly pissing me off. But I hate when I have them on my ankles.

I remember the kid across the street told me to press an "x" with my nail into the little bump that shows up. And I've always done that, sometimes without thinking about it. It sometimes works. That or toothpaste if I don't have any real remedies. What about you?

...I got one on my...backside once. I don't really know of any special treatment except the usuals...

Some remedies I've heard of:

Mayo
Toothpaste
Ginger
"X"
Hot water
cold water
Lemon juice

There are some really weird ones out there.

When I was a kid I was severely allergic to mosquito bites and they really liked me. So one camping trip I ended up in the hospital with my entire body covered in bites the size of a thumbnail.

Calamine lotion was my best friend when I used to camp a lot. Takes the itch right out.

Well ice always works, but it's pretty inconvenient unless you're at home. Mosquitoes love me too :(

Any of you people O blood type? Mosquitoes can smell blood from a distance and love O.

From my personal experiences only, not scientifically, I guess they also love A. Damned mosquitoes everywhere. They're the only bugs that really bite me, there aren't many spiders around here that bite unprovoked. I usually just put calamine lotion or something on the bites and they itch less.

Oh, uh, worst place? Well, legs, but that was only worst because there were freaking clusters of them one time, like 12 on each leg.

Worst time-to-bite ratio I ever had was accruing seven bites after doing some fireworks outside for like 10 minutes.

I'm A+, and mosquitoes adore me. My family goes camping in France most years, and we'll always end up near mosquito-infested rivers, and while the others'll get one or two, I'll be covered in hundreds (I count them sometimes when I can't sleep because every part of my skin itches). Which will get infected because I scratch them. It's like having chicken pox all over again ;;

I also have unpleasant memories of sitting on ant hills on sports days back in primary school.

And, if stings count, I got stung by a wasp minutes before leaving for a Muse concert a couple of years back, which I couldn't enjoy properly because oh the pain. I also got myself and my sister stung all over when we were little by throwing rocks at a hive. I wasn't the brightest kid.

I have only been bitten by a creepy thing once. It was a centipede. Stung a fair bit.

I've also been stung exactly once. As it turns out, I'm severely allergic to bee stings. Like "get to the hospital NOW if you wish to go on living" allergic. :/ I love bees, too. It's such a shame.

let's see: bees, wasps, ants (all kinds - bull ants to fire ants), mosquitos, tics, and the occasional spider. edit: oh yeah, fleas too. heh.

woo australia represent :| I've also been attacked by magpies!

Winnipeg Manitoba: The only thing to worry about is Mosquitos, and more mosquitos, and more, and more, and more...

Yeah anyways, no real awkward places, just arms ankles and feet. Hate hrseflies though, buite hard, kinda like a wasp...

In my youth, my brother and I once decided to go outside to play. We take one step outside and our bare feet are suddenly coated.

With a trillion.

Accursed.

Fire ants.

Omigod it hurt so much. x:

sigh...
But at least I can donate blood to anyone who needs it!
Come to think of it that's really not worth it, methinks.

I was stung on my neck, just below my chin when I was like 8.
I'm allergic. >_____________>;

Also when I went on holiday that one time, to Turkey, I was stung by a million giant red ants. I kind of deserved it though, 'cause me and my cousin would collect them in a bottle and make them fight the black ants.
I was a terrible person. >______________________________________>;

oh my god, fire ants are the worst. :C I had them crawl into my clothes when I was younger.

I have no idea what my blood type is, but I cannot recall ever having been bit my a mosquito, stung by a bee or wasp, or anything of that sort. The worst I've ever had would be small bites from ordinary black ants. Reading this thread, I feel lucky! :D
