Open Dreams of the Past

"What?! H-how long have we been in there?"
She wanted to say more, but was sounding stupid. The dragon sighed, breathing out a tiny bit of fire.
"That sure changes a lot, huh. I... always wondered what being wild was like, I guess."

After hearing the Salamence wonder how long they'd been in the chamber, Zrantox figured that the dragonw as a no-go.

Then who should I explain my case to?

He floated until he noticed a Weavile moving toward a hle in the cave.

That would do nicely.

Qua looked back at Ancea, but did nothing else. He sat down, looking like a giant mutant teddy bear, facing away from the Kabutops. A low growl escaped his throat, but it wasn't directed at the prehistoric Pokemon. It sounded more like a moan, a mournful sound at losing the chance to finally having a friend.

"Qua, it's okay." Ancea rested a scythe on his shoulder, barely touching the armor enough for him to be able to feel it. "Maybe she wasn't that great after all. Maybe she was decieving us."

"Possibly," murmured Qua. He still didnn't look back; his blank eyes were staring at the cave wall, as it looked.

Skaldia, still muttering under her breath, slowly flapped her wings, ignoring the pain. The human - Mourmedy - and her group of human followers had left, but surely the Aerodactyl could catch up to them in the air. And she had said to stay 'far away' but when there was quite a distance of height, that could suffice. The liar interested her, and there was so much she could learn from studying from afar. Maybe the world had changed, but... what if it could be changed back? She wanted to have a purpose again, and for the moment, she tasked herself with finding a proper Champion and winning them over to the thought of reviving Pokemon training. After a few attempts at getting off the ground, she gritted her teeth and launched herself into the air, muffling a screech at the surge of pain. It - it was bearable. It would be bearable. She would make it so.

Flapping slowly, she let a thermal lift her and carry her away from the cave that had been her 'home' in a sense, where she had slept for so long. Maybe she would find the other sleepers later, but right now, she wanted to find out what had gone so terribly wrong. And the best way to do it was to follow Mourmedy; if they were so set against Pokemon, they would lead her to the root of the problem. Somehow. Faintly spotting a moving blur on the ground, Skaldia started to follow, secure in the knowledge that nothing could hit her up in the air. Not that it had to; a tap would send her reeling, at the moment, but that didn't matter. She would find her destiny once more.

Mourmedy led them onwards, the silence gloomy.

Nobody dared to speak to the grieving leader. they knew, knew how upset she was. Her temperment was unstable, from her behavior in the caves. Rasu knew this, they all knew this... It would be best not to speak, let her have her thinking time...

Her eyes looked dully around, barely aware of her surroundings. They seemed to have lost a light... a certain gleam that their steely gaze once had. Atticus... She couldn't stop thinking about him. Over and over, his death played in her mind. She cringed, closing her eyes tightly and being careful not to let the others see.

He was... he was a lovely man. She remembered the time they first met... it was only two years ago, wasn't it? But it seemed far off... as though the events had transpired in a completely different universe. A universe were Atticus was still a living breathing person... a universe where the two of them were walking down the aisle. Mourmedy smiling in her lovely wedding dress, Atticus grinning in his spiffing tuxedo...

This universe mocked her. It mocked her with what could've been... oh what could've been! She felt the lowest of low... a sinking feeling deep within her soul. Never, never would there be another Atticus.

If it weren't for them... them! Pokémon... and their awful trainers... Didn't they take enough? Take enough happiness from her life?! They were the ones responsible...

And that was her duty, to protect the world from their evil.

To protect herself from more pain.

The Weavile moved swiftly through the underbrush, looking for any areas where the greenery was particually large. Returning just as quickly, she came to a slow as she approached the hole. Placing the plants carefully around the hole, trying to get it to look just right, she noted that the rock-thing wasn't there anymore. It still couldn't fly, she thought, so it had also gone deeper into the cave.

However, the dragon and Solrock were still there. They hadn't seemed to take any notice of her, something she didn't mind.

But...

Who were those pokemon, anyway? Why were humans in her cave? She paused again, boggling over these questions.

Zrantox noted the Weavile's movement. It seemed to be finding foliage to cover a hole in the cave.

Ok, I just need to get that poekmon's attention. But how to do it...

The Dusknoir called a low-powered Shadow ball to his hand. He then tossed it so it would kland right near the Weavile.

Hope this works...

Skaldia was slowly catching up with the humans, and had to rise higher to keep from being spotted. Unfortunately, she had conveniently forgotten that most wild Pokemon had territories; a loud screech, wildly different from her own was her only warning. A large bird that she identified as Pidgeot was plunging into a dive that was aimed straight for her. Normally, this wouldn't be much of a problem, but with aching wings and little energy to spare, the Aerodactyl had to flee. Ashamed at her actions as she furled her own wings and started to drop, she nearly closed her eyes before the realization hit her. If she landed anywhere near the humans, they'd discover she followed them. Summoning up the little strength she possessed, Skaldia spread her wings and turned, hearing another angry cry from the Flying-type who was following her. Once she was a good distance away from the humans, she began to plummet, helped along by a Wing Attack from her attacker. All she could see was the ground moving up towards her, and then a short moment where all she wanted to do was curl up and let her consciousness slip away. She crashed into the ground and skidded a few metres, not having the energy or the control to soften her landing. When the Aerodactly did look up, she growled softly; the humans were far too close for her comfort. They would have to be blind to not have seen her fall.

...Hmm?

What was that sound...? Mourmedy didn't seem to have noticed it... a loud screeching. Rasu listened carefully. It sounded like a bird of some sort. Hmm... It didn't sound like the regular bird calls she had heard... No. It sounded irritated...

The woman looked up and saw it.

Something was falling... falling towards them.

CRASH!

They all jumped. Even Mourmedy herself was startled from her reverie of Atticus. Not too far from them, the group could spot something on the ground, lying there crumpled.

The leader held out her hand, signaling to the others that she would check it out. Slowly, she walked over to the object cautiously, feeling a bit of fear prickling her...

It was that Pokémon... that large winged monsterosity.

"You..." Mourmedy glared at it, the lothing evident within her cold eyes.

She reached her hand over to her pocket.

...Just in case it tried anything.

Skaldia glared back, or tried to. It was hard when she was trying not to keen her pain out loud "Yes, me." she rasped, and spat a large amount of dirt and rocks out. "Faugh. What do you want? I'm busy." Well, she was twitching her wings and legs, to see if anything was broken. Nothing seemed to be, but her whole body ached (again) and the Aerodactyl just wanted to find some nice, rocky peak to rest on. It was annoying, to have slept for years, and then to be attacked (and beaten) twice, and now all she could do was sleep. After painfully lifting her head, only to growl at the pain and settle it back on the ground, one eye stayed on the most dangerous human: Mourmedy. The others were followers, who would scuttle around carrying out orders, but they hadn't taken the initiative to attack her before. "Before you accuse me of following you, I wasn't. I was trying to keep from crashing, and that took me farther than I thought." She paused, to catch her breath, and tried to get up. Pain surged, and she quickly stopped moving once more.

No use in getting up at the moment... Skaldia hissed and tried to relax, even as she catalogued injuries.

Her wings were sprained, a result of crashing with them still spread out. Her legs seemed alright, if unlikely to support her weight for a while. A few gashes on her stomach, probably where she had hit some rocks, and what would have been a veritable ton of bruises, if her hide showed them. She had probably fractured something to account for not being able to move without so much pain... Her back, maybe? Stupid Pidgeot.

The Salamence jumped up and flew away. Nothing was recognizable, so she picked a random direction and decided to look around. It felt good to fly after so long. She thought she heard screeching from far away, but ignored it.

(Woo, stupid moment. x3 Edit'd!)

(Er, I believe both the humans and Skaldia left Union Cave and are quite a distance away at the moment. :P And if I understand correctly, Fyrix is still back there, isn't she?)

"Hmph." Mourmedy continued to glare at the terrible beast, thinking... If she left it there... surely someone would discover it... some idiot. And what if that idiot got the idea of capturing it? Then... the evil would begin anew. Another family would suffer, another Atticus would die...

Oh, how she missed him.

But not now! Not now! She needed to deal with this!

The small-statured woman did one of her infamous hand gestures and like trained seals, her group had all come. Rasu looked at her curiously, then looked down at the Pokémon.

"...So it's this thing... It looks hurt." She said simply, yet with some concern in her voice.

"We can't leave it there... and risk someone finding it. So all of you, lift this behemoth and we'll take it back to headquarters." Mourmedy's voice sounded distant to her... she felt as if she was in another dimension, completely seperate from the others, as if there were two of her. The Mourmedy who existed here, the one who had coldly looked upon that behemoth... Numb and indifferent. This one was the one on the same dimension as the others. And the one who still mourned, still cried deeply for Atticus. It was an odd feeling, she felt split between these two selves.

Her eyes gazed rather blankly and indifferently as the others followed her command and heaved up the Aerodactyl.

...What would happen next? What would they do with the beast?

Well... she would think about that when it came to that.

A blast of ghostly energy landed near where Esther was standing. She instictively jumped out of the way, and begun to let dark energy to seep into her claws.
Looking around, she could see nothing.
"Come out, you don't want something to happen, do you~?"

"Well, well, at least I can get a pokemon's attention."

The Dusknoir floated forward, and became visible.

"Now then, before we get to our conversation, I must know whether or not you're an enemy of the humans."

"Humans?! Everyone is an enemy of the humans, except that group of idiots that are invading on my cave... of which I believe you were a part of."

The Weavile glared at the Dusknoir. It was still weak, but that didn't matter. She could probably beat it in combat either way.

"You may want to explain yourself before you try to continue this conversation. Where the hell did you come from?"

Skaldia nearly growled at the humans to keep back, but really, what else could she do? Stay put in that spot until someone put her out of her misery? Right: a humiliating end for one of the best battlers in at least two regions. She had to admire the humans' courage; they obviously loathed her, yet they were following Mourmedy's orders perfectly. Being carried felt odd, but she resisted the urge to move her tail to make them let go. She would either cause herself pain or crack open their heads and make them drop her, and then where would she be? The Aerodactly wisely kept silent for now, though she kept her gaze fixed on the sky. Well, she was doing what she had intended to: getting to where the humans lived, and seeing how much had changed, but this twist in the plan wasn't very acceptable to her pride. No matter. Soothing her dignity could wait until she was healed and out of danger.

Sinar turned around and watched as the Salamence took off. Sinar took a moment to think, then decided to follow. The hostile humans weren't likely to come back to the cave, so it instead opted to see that the others did not come to harm. It floated outside, tracked the Salamence mentally, then floated off, telekinetically polishing it's body to reach speeds close to that of the Salamence, and followed.
