Open Dreams of the Past

"I just... I don't know any more, Rasu... I don't..." The woman called Rasu came over to Mourmedy and sighed, putting her hand on her shoulder. She could feel her friend's muscles relax.

"What am I supposed to do now...?"

"Mourmedy..." Rasu sighed. "Maybe we should go home... You need to rest... Atticus' death... it hasn't been easy on any of us."

"Dear god, he's dead..." She put her face in her hands, the lothing and hatred once more turning into sorrow. Rasu silently patted her back, letting the woman sob... The others faced their leader, also respectfully quiet.

Skaldia wanted to move. Badly. Her muscles were still burning with pain, but the Aerodactyl couldn't stand showing such... weakness. A few halfhearted attempts to get up result in her wings flapping feebly, and eventually she got her legs under her. Lifting her body up, she spread her wings to attain an unsteady balance, hating herself for not reacting faster to the shot from the weapon. "You... attacked me." she began, a snarl twisting her voice and making it sound even more savage than usual. "Humans have never attacked us willingly, by themselves, to kill. Why, you, Champion? Or is this some trickery?" She suspected the Dusknoir, of course, but surely it couldn't have possessed the woman and made her attack. The Solrock had seemed to want the sleeping Pokemon to get out of the chamber, but could its motives been twisted?

There was something scary about watching the Aerodactyl. Fyrix wanted to run away, and find her trainer, not yet realizing how long ago her trainer had died. She didn't remember anything between going to sleep and waking up except dreams. It didn't seem like a long time. Feeling very small, the Salamence asked softly, mostly to herself.
"Wh- what's happening? Why did she...?"
The Pokemon trailed off and started to leave, feeling confused. There were humans looking upset, other Pokemon...
This is wrong! Am I still asleep?

Rasu looked at the Aerodactyl, exasperated. Then sighed and shook her head. "Do you want me to deal with this...?" Mourmedy slowly lifted her head, ashamed and disgusted at displaying her weakness once more. If Rasu offered to do something for her... things must've been serious... No... no more...

She wiped the tears off of her face as her reddened face looked the Aerodactyl straight in the eye, carefully avoiding Atticus' body.

"No. I am the leader and I must deal with this accordingly. Death or no... You guys... take.. the bo-body back to HQ." Mourmedy said, her resuming her sharp tone. Several man from her troop went over to the body and picked it up, carrying it off... She cringed, but held in the tears that would've come out.

"I attacked you only to defend myself and the people I have been entrusted to. I wanted to avoid another death... You Pokémon.. you're too violent."

Skaldia stiffened, baring her fangs, even though she was in no shape to fight, or even try to intimidate. "Too violent? I did all that you asked me to, and no more. I followed your orders, as I was supposed to. It ws my destiny to obey the Champion!" She swayed unsteadily and huddled, wings drooping to the ground. "The Dusknoir was only one, and he would have been beaten off faster if you used your own Pokemon. Yet you relied on us, who had just awakened. You should have known there were risks." The Aerodactly's obedience had melted away, even as the pain surged in her body. "I," she said, tail weakly lashing, "am sorry for the human's death, but a Champion, or even a gym leader, should have known to go alone, and bring their former Pokemon." She still hadn't quite caught on to what was happening, or even noticed the absence of Pokeballs on the "Champion's" person.

"True, the Dusknoir was too violent, too angry. But you could have defeated him, without endangering anyone! Or did you not bring your own Pokemon here, because you were so confident that we would obey you?!" Irrational though it was, Skaldia grew angry, voice rising to a screech that did not reveal her own weakness. "Were you so certain? I wished to serve the greatest, and you are that, yet you blame me, and the others, for a death that could have been prevented! You should be grateful that I and the Tyranitar obeyed, or you would all have died! Yet you cast that away as if having such strong ones as I serve you is too little!" She felt it as a slight, as if she was being pushed aside, when all her training had been to make her the best. And now this human decided she was flawed, that she was too violent! How dare she!

"We helped keep things from breaking out into a war," Ancea protested calmly. "If it weren't for us, the Dusknoir would have killed you, too."
"What's it like being a trainer's Pokemon?" she asked, changing the subject.

"I am done... Done with this foolish lie... And if you want to kill me, so be it! Kill me just like that Dusknoir killed him! Just like it took away his life, just like that! I am not the Champion, nor have I ever been. And guess what else... you filthy creature...? There is no Champion. Pokémon trainer is over, done, dead. You know why I have come here? I have come to make sure you scum go back into that filthy hole you crawled back into. To prevent the rise of that evil sport... Pokémon training..." Mourmedy said, her voice just as penetrating as her gaze. Rasu could hear the pain, the grieving fury... Her tone was as sharp and precise as daggers.

"I am no murderer... Notice that I did not kill you with that blast.. But I warn you... go ahead! Go ahead and try to kill me! And I will not hesitate to end your life... end it as swiftly as his.." The woman watched their leader, knowing that she meant business.

She had had enough... enough of this all. And dammit it all to hell if any of these monsters were going to try to kill her. They tried and they were all going down with her... She swore it on her life. Swore it on his grave.

Skaldia stared in amazement. Any arguments she had been preparing shattered with this one statement. "You... are not the Champion?" she repeated, stunned. The Aerodactyl could hardly have been more surprised. Pokemon training was a dead practice? What was this world that she had woken up in? Astonishment mingling with anger and admiration for being able to keep up the lie, the Pokemon shifted, eyes narrowing. "You dare me to kill you. Know this, human. You would have been the Champion I would have served willingly, if the evil sport had not been banished." she said flatly. "You have the mind, the composure. You would have been what Lance failed to be." With this said, she stepped back, hating how her legs couldn't support her properly. She would need to walk, to get out of the cavern. "So will you try to put me back in the chamber by force? The prisms have stopped working. We wouldn't sleep again." A clear challenge in her eyes; this human was smart, and someone she would have respected, if they had met on other terms. If only.

Qua turned and listened to the snapping conversation, a sorrowful look crossing the face. If she wasn't the Champion, and Pokemon training was dead, then... did Qua even have a future? He turned and lumbered farther into the cave, looking for someplace to be alone for awhile.

((*insert soft piano music here*))

"We're not going to kill you! Spare us!" Ancea pleaded, putting her scythes together. She then took them apart, figuring that this person might not like it when she did that. But if Pokemon training was dead, what would Ancea do next?
She sat down, confused.

"I will never be Champion... I will never be Champion of fools." Said the woman coldly, her blue eyes looking with the heaviness of death at the Aerodactyl... Stupid creature... it could never understand...

"Also... I will let you go. As long as you fly, fly far away from here and don't let yourself get captured... Because then, this evil sport will begin anew." She continued to glare at the Aerodactyl straight in the eyes, forgetting all fear. "I do warn you... if I hear any mention of Pokémon training starting again... Or if I hear of any death caused by your ilk... I will hunt you down. And I swear it... I swear it upon his gr-grave." The woman turned her back on them all and made a hand gesture.

And so, the group trudged out of the cave.

"You did the right thing... Mourmedy..."

"The right thing... hmph."

Skaldia stared after the group of humans for a long time. "Hmph. A normal life." she said harshly. "A life of hunting, and flying and sleeping. Nothing more interesting happening than that. No true battles, no rivals, nothing but endless boredom. I am grateful to Lance for taking me from that, but now to be thrust into something so disgusting! Being left alone. Fah, better to still be sleeping." The Aerodactyl shot a glance at the Kabutops. "Being a trainer's Pokemon is glorious. Exciting. You have the chance to prove yourself against the best adverseries, and it is by your growing strength that your trainer also becomes more powerful. If you succeed, you become the best, the strongest, the most respected. I lived for that. I only wanted to be stronger, to use the humans as a way to hone myself. And now... all that training, to go into the wild and linger, like some old Pokemon that's days are done!" She growled, tail lashing wildly. "Perhaps there'll be some strong Pokemon outside, but I doubt it."

Ancea swished her scythe. "I wanted to at least be a human's friend," she said, annoyed. "Let's go." she followed Qua's footprints to see where he had gone.

((Holy Konoli. i sure missed a lot.))

Zrantox needed to wait for one other poekmon that wasn't one of the Champion's worshipers. He positioned himself outside of the cave. He would outline his dilema to the first pokemon that exited, assuming that this pokemon wasn't one of the ones he'd battled with, and have that poekmon explain things to the others. If he did, they'd accuse him of lying.

And he didn't need that.

The Dusknoir turned invisible, prearing himself for the next pokemon to come out.

((Never mind..... :sweatdrop:))
Fyrix stepped outside, blinking at how bright it was outside. Sh had no idea what was happening, and wanted to fly away, at least for a while.
"It'll be better if I just leave. Maybe I can find my trainer.."

Sinar turned back and headed towards the cave entrance. It spotted a Salamence, one of the slumbering Pokemon, and caught what it said. Your trainer is gone... dead. Years ago, during a great schism, many humans targetted trainers. It was ruinous. However, leaving may not be such a bad idea., Sinar told the Salamence. It continued onward into the cave, noting the Dusknoir sitting hidden by the entrance.

((Eevee, I'm not sure what you're referencing, so I'll just play along...))

The first poekmno Zrantox saw, other than the Solrock whom he'd talked to already, was a Salamence.

I'm not sure if this one was there... It looks like one of the other prisoners in the chamber...

he floated in front of the Salamence, remaining invisible all the while. This would have to be done carefully.

After watching the scene that had unfolded before her, Esther was dumbfounded. That flying rock... thing didn't know anything that had happened? It really was old. The stronger members of the small group had gone deeper in the cave. The rock-thing's movement had been hindered, and it was no longer a threat.

A different concern faced Esther. There was a giant, gaping hole in the side of the cave, letting in light and potentially more humans. Joy. The other was that there were strong pokemon invading on her territory. The immediate problem, and the one that could be fixed quickest, she decided, was the hole. It would not help if her any of her prey escaped.

Glancing outside, There was a Solrock and dragon of some sort. The Solrock was of no concern to her, and the dragon didn't seem strong or threatening at all. Esther decided that covering the hole up with some plants, or bushes, or anything would provide enough cover to keep the cave dark, for now. The human would probably tell people of the pokemon in the cave. She needed cover, now.

Skaldia growled, and made her slow way to the hole. She wasn't about to team up with other Pokemon, unless she had to. Balance improving as the Aerodactyl kept going, she glanced at the Solrock and the Salamence and dismissed them. Better to forget this whole thing, live a boring life and eventually die on her own... And how could she have been so stupid as to believe the human's lie? True, she played the part well enough, but still, that was no excuse for falling for such a ruse. Inwardly fuming, she stopped just outside the hole to glance around. Where was she anyway? She didn't even know what cave she was in! Presumably, it was the Union Cave Lance had mentioned, but she could hardly tell from the ground, and she wasn't about to do rapid flying until her wings stopped hurting. "Stupid..." Skaldia snarled at herself, glowering at nothing in particular.
