• Welcome to The Cave of Dragonflies forums, where the smallest bugs live alongside the strongest dragons.

Guests are not able to post messages or even read certain areas of the forums. Now, that's boring, don't you think? Registration, on the other hand, is simple, completely free of charge, and does not require you to give out any personal information at all. As soon as you register, you can take part in some of the happy fun things at the forums such as posting messages, voting in polls, sending private messages to people and being told that this is where we drink tea and eat cod.

Of course I'm not forcing you to do anything if you don't want to, but seriously, what have you got to lose? Five seconds of your life?

NaNoWriMo 2009

Probably not going to even try this year, considering I got like 1300 words last year then gave up.
I mean, I have a wonderful idea for a story, the issue is I've already started it. P: My brain can only think about that story, really.
Plus, commitments like raiding (WoW) and spriting stuff would get in the way. As much as I love writing, I don't think I could commit an entire month to it with nothing but a pat on the back for a reward.

I don't know if I'm going to this year. I did last year, and I didn't finish, but just recently I finished what I started last November. However, I'm not sure that I can really call it finished; it needs a lot of revising and it also needs a sequel. I'm not sure if I should start something else before finishing the revision of this one.

There's also school; school's starting to get busier and I don't know how much time I'm going to have come November, but we'll see...

If I do participate, I'm thinking that it will be either one of two things: the sequel to last year's story, or something new that I can't stop thinking about. I'm working out some plot issues for it, but I really love the characters. We'll see what happens.

ROW ROW FIGHT THE POWER, surskitty!

I'm probably not going to do it this year :( I have waaay too much on my plate at the moment. Bloody dissertations.

Definitely going to try to write something.
I have no idea what though. Only that I actually feel like it and I have the massive amounts of free time required.
I'll probably just... scat. Write whatever comes to mind.

I have no idea what I'm doing, but I'm going to give it a try. Given my track record of slow typing, getting into un-writing-like moods, and losing inspiration for plot points/filler, I'll be happy with 20k. But if I can actually get some sort of plot beyond the first two chapters, I'm golden.

One project we can do for my global studies is an adaptation of Voltaire's "Candide" into book form. I realized the thing took place around November, and ding-ding-ding! I'm going schoolwork and writing a novel!

The only problem is that I am plotlesssss~ I wanted to finish my last-year NaNo story, but now this came up. I'm not sure what to do. I also thought about writing it in French but yeah, that's not going to happen.

I would be TOTALLY UP FOR THIS but our computer has died and been resurrected since last year and GUESS WHAT there's no more decent word processor. :( I could check if the laptop has anything, but no promises. I've got no plots in my head anyway, so if it doesn't, then oh well.

Eh? Even if you're not able to download something like OpenOffice, there are online utilities like Google Docs that are nearly as fully-featured as the full download packages--more than sufficient for NaNo IMO.

Err, so I decided to leave the two characters I had already in favour of what looks to be a fairly generic adventure that pokes fun at self-inserts, among other things. I don't expect it to be particularly great, but I figured I'd just write for the fun of it this year.

Also, is there any chance of doing the TCoD Literary Warfare thing again this year? The competition element of it kinda spurred me on two years ago, so I wondered if anybody'd be up for it this time around. I wouldn't have a clue how to code it myself though, so er.

Everyone was competing with each other for word count. :3 We had little bars in our sigs and stuff.

The NaNobars still work:

The code's

I'm always down for a word war, although my erratic internet access over the course of November will probably make it look like I'm falling behind for a few days with periodic huge bursts of writing when I'm able to get online and update my word count.

My profile is here; I think I've got most people here added from last year. Incidentally, I demand to know why my NaNo history is still blank.
