• Welcome to The Cave of Dragonflies forums, where the smallest bugs live alongside the strongest dragons.

Guests are not able to post messages or even read certain areas of the forums. Now, that's boring, don't you think? Registration, on the other hand, is simple, completely free of charge, and does not require you to give out any personal information at all. As soon as you register, you can take part in some of the happy fun things at the forums such as posting messages, voting in polls, sending private messages to people and being told that this is where we drink tea and eat cod.

Of course I'm not forcing you to do anything if you don't want to, but seriously, what have you got to lose? Five seconds of your life?

No Shave November

So you're like a constant downer huh

Yep.

...It's to raise money for testicular cancer. Women have "Race for Life" to raise money for breast cancer - men can't take part. So men have 'Movember', men grow facial hair to show their brotherhood and get sponsored for the cause. I'm sponsoring my brother.

Well why wasn't that mentioned in the first place? :| Really it seems like no one even realized they were doing it for that reason, or that that had anything to do with it.

well, no, since I don't have facial hair and I don't really like the idea of going through summer without shaving my legs. :(

I guess I'm doing it although my school is only encouraging moustache growth. Good thing seeing how I'm the ugliest thing ever when a beard is anywhere near my face.

I hate facial hair :( oh well.

This is the first I've ever heard of November being some sort of no-shaving month. And since I shaved just the other day I guess I'm already disqualified. XD

What if it were reversed and it were 'national shaving month', or 'no eating month', or 'wear a scarf month'? They all make just as much sense.

Well... "no eating month" would probably kill some people, while at least all of the others are silly but completely harmless...

Devout muslims seem to get by..

oh, so that's why half the teachers at my school are sporting crazy neckbeards. :o

well since I shaved last night, I guess I wouldn't have been able to do this anyway. but testicular cancer is a bitch, so this is a good cause.

I wouuuullld but I kind of need to for a reason. However I guess it's not a vastly important reason? So, uh, I'll see!

(Also yes, ambiguity is the best type of clarity.)

Actually, this is the first I've heard of it actually being sponsored or for testicular cancer. The people around me just do it for stupid fun.

So you're like a constant downer huh

ontopic: If I didn't shave people would be wondering what the fuck a 15-year-old is doing with a full beard and mustache. Yes, I grow facial hair like an adult.

That is actually quite awesome and I am now jealous.

No, seriously. Wtf is the point of this? A random month dedicated to doing - or not doing - something for absolutely no reason? What the hell? What if it were reversed and it were 'national shaving month', or 'no eating month', or 'wear a scarf month'? They all make just as much sense.

Is there any reason for this or is it just, you know, let's all do something because we're bored and we have hair so let's see how much it can grow in an allotted period of time?

You realize that this is Insanity you're posting in, right?

A vast amount of teachers and students at my school are participating. I'm not, since I'm a girl, but. x3

I talked to a girl about it, they just said that they'd stop shaving their legs :/

BUT, as much as I can, for facial hair is not something I'm particularly good at.

I forgot all about movember. I just really hate shaving (although it makes my face wonderfully smooth).
