Open Dreams of the Past

Seeing a light coming out of a seemingly small opening, Sinar sped up. And emerged outside the cave, into bright and energizing sunlight. The sounds of battle continued going on and on from within the cave, and Sinar could sense embattled thoughts and emotions emanating from the interior. It was actually hoping that the crater, where Sinar arrived upon the Earth, wouldn't be disturbed.

Then Sinar noticed a clearly annoyed presence somewhere, not far, though. Two of them, actually.

Do you mind telling your colleague that this world is quite simple to understand?, Sinar asked of one of them, an Ambipom named Blizzardi, I don't particularly like... talking, I hope you understand.

Tanya was getting annoyed with all of the constant squabbling and fighting. Her eyes began to glow an intense red.

"Enough of this!" she ordered. "I don't care if you all want to kill each other, but when my employees are caught in the way, I draw the line.

She curled her tail around Cole and pulled her away from the Curse, wrapping her own body gently around the human to protect her. The Milotic then turned her head toward the Dusknoir, speaking. "I in no way condone the actions of some humans against us, but to take your anger out on all... even those who know what it's like to work for a Pokémon, instead of always having us work for them, is totally unnecessary. It is only a sign of your own weakness that you can't distinguish between those humans that are a threat, and those that may even be helpful."

Tanya stared at the ghost and began a Hypnosis, using her voice to sing a haunting tune in addition to her glowing eyes to complete the technique.

While it had made her feel like a child to have Tanya coil around her in the past, now it was comforting. She was safe. Cole relaxed and rested her head on her arms on the coil in front of her.

A haunting tune filled the air. Cole shivered and looked at Tanya. Her eyes glowed red at the Dusknoir. Sing? Or Hypnosis? Looking away so she wouldn't get drowsy, she mumbled gratefully, "Thank you. Thank you for defending me."

"Humans?.... Helpful? You... are the weak fool," Zrantox said, each word struggling to get out over the hypnosis, "They are all... undeserving of this life... and I am the one... who will bring them... to the next life...."

He struggled to look away from the calming energies, but it was too late to resist. However, it wasn't too late for him to turn transparent and sink through the floor on which he had collapsed.

Just before he had fully submerged, he said: "Rest assured.... I will eradicate.... every human.... this... isn't... the.... end...."

He then sunk fully through the floor, ending up in an isolated chamber. There, the lingering hypnosis finally won over, and he sunk into unconsciousness.

"Safe," Effigei said after Zrantox had vanished.

"Safe for now," Yatasori said, "But I don't think Round Two will go as smoothly as this one did."

Mist finally saw the fork in the road that was bordered by small trees. Luckily, they were just enough to hide her, even though purple stood out against green. It was pretty hot right now, and the amount of people was slowly increasing. Midday was not her favorite hour. The Drapion was sure to create as little noise as possible, until she almost bumped into a tree much shorter than the rest. This tree appeared to have six round leaves and seeds on its trunk. Wait. This wasn't a tree, it was a Sudowoodo!

Luckily, Mist remembered a move that had been taught to her. Aqua Tail. Suddenly, water flowed out of her body, down to her tail, and she swung her sharp tail at the Sudowoodo, drenching it. With a cry, the "tree" gazed up at her with fear, and she roared, causing the Sudowoodo to scamper away. That left an open path for Mist, and she continued north towards a city. A nearby sign read "Ecruteak - 1 mile."

Turning to the human in her coils, Tanya nodded. "Of course. Right now, you're my responsibility, and that's not something I take lightly." She uncurled mostly from around Cole, but kept her tail wrapped around her and lifted her up off her feet. "All right, everyone. We have to leave soon, before the Dusknoir wakes back up. Get the chamber door open, so that we can take the inhabitant and leave." Tanya began to move back toward the entrance of the cave, carrying Cole with her.

Tanya was like a mother to everyone. She had decided that in her mind long ago, and now Cole appreciated it more than ever. While being lifted into the air was an odd feeling, she didn't protest. She doubted that she'd be able to get very far after the energy-sappig attack. And she was safe, she knew.

Getting her thoughts in order, Cole answered Tanya, "Partly for getting me away from the attack. But…thank you for defending humans. The ones that don't mean any harm."

((Forgot there were no trainers. Sorry. :B I'll fix that.))

Mist didn't recognize this place. But then again, she didn't recognize anything in Johto. There were definitely Pidgeotto around here, as she heard their calls from the trees.

Suddenly, when one came into view, she fired Pin Missile, injuring it in many places and causing it to fall to the ground. The Drapion approached, lunging out of the shadows and using Poison Fang. Her first kill in centuries, even though she didn't feel all that excited anymore...

Tanya shook her head, turning back toward Cole. "Don't get me wrong. I'm not defending humans at all. But right now, humans have the upper hand in terms of the structure of the world. And if I want to do anything about that, and have a real shot of it working, it has to be done right, more slowly and incrementally, until I'm ready to show what I can do. You, as a human, should know better than anyone that your species values power but loathes change more than anything.

She exited the cave, and spoke to the workers that were busy packing up. "Wait a little longer, others should be out soon." Tanya placed Cole back down on the ground, and slid away, looking and listening back into the cave. "There is still one more thing I'd like to see before we leave... Several of the Pokemon believe a trainer named Lance, a champion from the old world, is sleeping inside." With that, Tanya headed back inside.

Yataosri looked in the direction of the sealed door.

"Reamaining," Effigei said. It was a statement, not a question.

"Indeed, we must," Yatasori said, "We need to find some way to seal up that chamber forever. Lance cannot exit that chamber."

"Agreed," Effigei said, and floated over to the door.

"The question is, how can we seal it off? Blasting the ceiling wouldn't work, as the Dusknoir would be able to float through the rubble."

"Kinetic?" That Claydol suggested.

"No, the Dusknoir could undo that with a Dark Pulse. there must be another way."

Cole sighed. Yes, it made sense for Tanya not to wish to defend humans. But she trusted Cole, at the very least, and that was good.

She wasn't really sure what to do now. She had traveled before, but it hadn't been satisfied. Now that the dig had ended…she was curious about the Pokemon that had been unearthed. Although she didn't want to go back after Tanya had taken her out, she needed to see. If Lance was there, Cole wasn't about to wait for him to leave the main chamber, not when there were at least a few Pokemon in that chamber who meant him harm.

Leaning against the wall, she made her way back to the chamber's entrance and leaned against the wall, watching.

((I hate asking this, but does anyone have any idea what I'm supposed to be doing?

I have a feeling I'll be regretting my choice of character.))

ed'Rashtekaresket twitched in surprise as he heard Lance was sealed in a chamber.. and that the Dusknoir shouldn't reach him. He turned towards the two Pokemon, and looked towards the door.

"I have a suggestion, if you don't mind," he rasped, raising his voice. "Well, the Dusknoir's a ghost, so why don't we seal it with dark energy?" As if to prove his point, the Sharpedo formed a black sphere of energy in his mouth, very similar, if not exactly the same as the Dusknoir's Dark Pulse.

((Right now, you could be trying to open the door that Lance is behind. x3 It's sealed, you see. Chaon still has to post, so...))

Lance couldn't hear the sounds of fighting anymore. He banged on the wall, uncertain. Were the Pokemon still there? "Hello?" he called out. "Can anyone hear me?" Maybe hitting the door would make more noise than just yelling at it, but he had no idea if anyone was even outside to hear now. "If anyone's there, please answer!" Skaldia was outside, probably, but he doubted she would answer even if she did hear him. After all, he had let her enter the chambers, and then tried to see her at the very last moment... The signs of a compassionate, sentimental trainer. She hated compassion. Probably left over from the harsh life of an Aerodactyl - he wondered briefly what that society must have been like, to make her hate kindness towards others - and no matter how hard he had tried, she had remained stubbornly determined to ignore his overtures. It was no use to bother with asking her for help.

((Lo and behold, this is just me fawning over my own character. x3 Yay.))

"Because he'll just absorb it by reversing his Dark Pulse's polarity," Yatasori said, "My partner has seen him in action before, and that's the method he uses to regain power. My guess is that the only reason he didin't do it earlier is because using Curse took him to near absolute zero energy. If we want to find a safe method to seal him off, we need to just take out Zrantox."

"Obviously" Effigei said, and Yatasori noted that it was one of the few times he'd heard the Claydol use such obvious sarcasm.

"Look, the way I see it, maybe it's best if we let Lance come out of the chamber, and then take him to a place where he can't cause any harm," He turned to the Sharpedo, "Unless, of course, you have a better suggestion."

As Tanya approached the sleeping chambers, she suddenly heard footsteps behind her. She turned her head and noticed Cole coming back inside, leaning against the cave wall. "Don't forget," Tanya announced to her. "You're still under working hours... you have a job to do. I'd like you to make sure all the vehicles are loaded and starting up." She did have an idea why Cole had reentered, but she couldn't risk the human's safety right now. "Don't worry, I will personally bring the 'object' back safely, and..." She paused, speaking a little softer. "If it is this 'Lance,' I promise he will not be killed until we have a chance to properly evaluate and judge him... back at base. 5 minutes. I want to leave no later than that. So be ready." The Milotic turned back away and slithered back into the chamber, toward the others.

But then, Tanya heard a banging on the wall, from the sealed portion. So there is something alive in there afterall... She thought for a moment, then slammed into the wall with an Iron Tail, near where the banging was, but not directly on it, hoping that would be able to break free.

Disappointed, but relieved that Lance wouldn't be killed, at least, Cole heeded the reminder that her job wasn't done and made her way—slowly—outside. Blinking at the light, she squinted at the trucks that waited outside. "Tanya…wants to leave in five minutes or less. She has some business to complete, but you should get your vehicles running. Load them if they aren't already." Hoping that her voice had been heard by the human drivers, at least, she found a rocky wall to sit against that had sunlight shining against it. She sat down, hoping to get back some energy before leaving. Screw sunburn, five minutes isn't that long.

ed'Rashtekarest ignored the Claydol's sarcasm, turning now towards the wall where Tanya was. "Well, we could just kill him," he rasped, not hearing Tanya's comment. "It would save a lot of Pokemon and humans trouble." Spitting the Dark Pulse forwards, the black energy dissipated into the ground.

"And you'll forgive for not knowing about the Dusknoir, I have just entered this room with no knowledge of anyone except the Salamence," he continued rather dryly. "I don't know most of these Pokemons' names." The aforementioned Salamence trotted over to ed'Rashtekaresket, and grinned, wagging her tail like a dog.

"Hey hey did you see me attack that Dusknoir he didn't even stand a chance did you see did you see?" ed'Rashtekaresket growled deeply.

"And these are the times I wish I didn't know you," he snapped, not even making Storm blink. "Go.. see if you get blinded from being outside or something."

"Okay!" Humming, Storm trotted outside, oblivious to the others, and the stares she may or may not have attracted.
