Hi guys, I'm standing down, because anything I say will make me sound racist.

Nah nah, I realised that taking my stance would make me sound racist. I was being completely sincere with the reason for standing down. It's why I don't argue back in real life, when I'm 'confronted' due to being white. I mean, anything that sounds racist, even if the target isn't offended, can be punishable, so yeah. And, that makes me look like I'm whining again.
And I know for a fact that I'm not racist, if only because I don't use my 'white power' to put people down. : )
 
Saith is gonna hate me for agreeing with him, as he will never be able to show his face again, but people do love to use the "lolol u racist" argument to shut people down even when it's far from true. Trust me, I'm a republican and tea partier.

YOU JUST BROUGHT OUT A DICTIONARY SO THIS MEANS I MUST STEP IN TO RANT ABOUT MY NUMBER ONE PET PEEVE IN ANYTHING EVER.

Words don't inherently mean anything - much less the exact definition that's on dictionary.com. Words mean exactly what the person who said them was thinking when they said the word; for as long as you know what the person meant, nobody should give a damn what the dictionary says about the words they happened to use to express it. Dictionaries are for making it easier to understand what people mean when you don't actually know the word they used, not for telling them the author of the dictionary knew what they meant better than they do. Of course people shouldn't use misleading words to express themselves, but that's quite irrelevant to the topic of the debate.

Generally, when people say "Racism = prejudice + power", what they basically mean is, "Racial prejudice usually becomes a serious problem with grave consequences for society and the victims only when the persecutors also wield power." If you meant to make some meaningful argument against this statement, then explain that claim and argue it properly instead of hiding behind your dictionary.

I don't feel particularly tempted to jump into this mess, but I would like to make one point:

I am racist. So are you. So is every person on this planet, no matter their race. The world isn't divided into people who are racist and people who aren't; it's divided into people who want to stop being racist and people who don't.

And, yes, it would. You're still using the n-word; it doesn't matter if it's not a commonly offensive term there or not.
 
For the record - "minority", in the case of a sociological argument, does not mean "the group with the fewer people", it means "the people with the least power". Globally speaking, women are definitely a minority, even though they make up more than 50% of the population.

The "there are so many minorities they stop being a minority" argument is complete crap.
 
Yeah, I see a lot of reverse racism, such as blacks hating whites and think they need special privileges that whites shouldn't get just because they are black. I know a lot of black people who don't think this, but they do agree that some black people have this view.
