Pokemon.
Arena Name: The Battle Arena

randomized (see below) and will remain as such for the next 3 sets of moves when
it changes once again.

Description #2: If the spinner (aka RNG) lands between 23 and 46, then a machine
will change the battlefield into a torpical rainforest complete with tall, tall
trees, a dense fog, a light drizzle, and various vines that could possibly snare
any Pokémon who isn't careful.

Description #3: If the spinner (aka RNG) lands between 47 and 69, then a machine
will change the battlefield into a sand bench under perfect swimming weather

Castform here's what I want you to do, if it stays like it is, I want you to use Blizzard for all three attacks. However, if the weather changes I want you to use Flamethrower, if it's sunny, or Water Pulse, if it's rainy.

OK Allatar, begin with Rain Dance so that you're not getting hurt by the weather, then use Counter. Finish for now with Force Palm.

Rain Dance ~ Counter ~ Force Palm

As the hail falls, Allatar is crackling with static as he thinks of ways to annihilate Castform. Meanwhile, Castform is totally into the weather and loving how awesome Allatar's reaction to it is. "Haha, look at you!" Castform smirks. "You're the one with the weird spiral 'round your body..." snaps Allatar. They both suddenly remember their orders, and begin to break out of their 'chat.' Castform rushes to beat Allatar to the first attack, and a slight chill is felt, and then clumps of snow swish across the arena. Allatar is feeling hot with anger and beginning to become quite chilled at the same time, and Castform smirks at Allatar. Allatar's vision line now only sees red with anger. He tries his best to break out of his electric net that is keeping him from moving, and painfully begins to take a few aching steps. He begins to slowly ease himself around in a circle, then proceeds to clap his paws in the air, confusing Castform. Allatar waits for a few
minutes, and rain begins to fall. Castform begins to morph into a raindrop figure, and so does the substitute.

Allatar: Health at 70% Energy at 78%
Castform: Health at 88% Energy at 77%
Notes-
Castform is now in the Rainy form
It is now raining.
Blizzard was boosted due to Hail.

Castform thinks about her orders, and remembers that if it becomes rainy, she should use Water Pulse. She begins to gather water within herself, radiates a deep blue, and releases the water onto Allatar in pulses. Allatar is stunned by the blow, and fails to remember what exactly he should be doing. Was he supposed to use Counter? What's that? His head throbs, and he can't think of what to do. Castform is ecstatic, and once more gathers drops of water deep within, glows a navy blue, and shoots it at her opponent. The small Riolu is shocked, but still confused and rather clumsy. He waddles like a duck all over the arena, and falls on his head, taking some damage. He faintly remembers to use Force Palm, but can't recall what that is. Castform is madly happy, but extremely tired and ready to snooze. Pokemon Partner is proud of his Castform, and starts shouting words of praise, while KantoBreeder is silent as the sound of a certain Riolu pretending to be a Psyduck is heard.

Allatar: Health at 49% Energy at 78%
Castform: Health at 88% Energy at 59%

Arena Notes-
According to my RNG, the weather has changed to a dry desert perfect for Groudon, with Sunny Day in effect and sandy flooring.

Pokemon Notes-
Castform is now in Rainy Form
Allatar took a bit extra damage due to Hail
Allatar is now confused and paralyzed (is this possible?)

Um yes, I have a question. I don't quite see anything in the new referee rules post thingy about reclaiming the position if you've been removed off the list and had it in the past. So is that still possible or would I have to get reapproved? I wouldn't mind doing another mock to get reapproved, but I was just wondering.

If you were kicked off you have to re-tryout; if you were just accidentally removed or something, you can have your position back.

Trying to get myself a promotion. Advanced mock, gogogo!

1 v. 1
Single battle
Disqualification: 7 days
Restrictions: No substitutes, choices to be PMed to ref beforehand
Damage Cap: 50%
Arena: Der Waffle Haus
Description: For some reason, two trainers have decided to duke it out in an otherwise unremarkable breakfast eatery. The rooms is brightly lit, with several patrons sitting and eating, and some vaguely pleasant music on the PA. The area is full of booths and tables, great for hiding behind, but not very sturdy (treat them like a 10% Substitute that blocks non-mental attacks). On most of the tables, of course, are waffles, and a Pokemon may eat them for 2% health. Pokemon are not allowed in the kitchen, and will spend an action being chased out if they try to enter.

Round 3 begin!

larvitar
[Xander] Larvitar (M)

Baltoy
[Idola] Baltoy
EXP: 0/1
Ability: Levitate
Health: 100%
Energy: 64%
Status: Disappointed over not hurting its opponent like last round, but is ready to strike hard. Safeguard is up (2 more actions).

Xander is pumped when the round starts; he can feel his recently-gained speed and strength inside his body, and he is just bursting to show that to his opponent. And what better way to do that than with a strong attack? The Larvitar opens his mouth, and from it comes a torrent of horrible thoughts, all condensed into a pulsing beam that hits Idola squarely. The Baltoy is blown back a little, but spins forward all the same and focuses its energy on its Xander. Idola scans the Larvitar's body, and soon finds the muscle receptors responsible for his boost in stats. It wastes no time in stimulating her own muscles in order to achieve the same effect. That effect comes almost immediately, and the Baltoy soon sees why its opponent seemed to be feeling so good.

Xander: 62% health, 75% energy; Idola: 87% health, 58% energy

Now faster than her opponent, Idola is itching to get the first attack this time. It lets its consciousness sink, and communicates with the pure essence of the earth beneath it, asking to harness its energy. The Earth agrees, and within seconds the ground beneath Xander's feet explodes upwards in a cloud of dust, flinging the Larvitar up and down again.

The little dinosaur isn't happy about that in the slightest. He thinks he should be the better one, like he was at the beginning of the round. Oh, wait, he still is. Xander soon begins to walk around, proclaiming his greatness and working his opponent up. It almost works, too—Idola begins to get worked up. But why would he be spending this time swaggering when he was supposed to be fighting? Because he wants to get the better of you, a thought bounces back. It came from the Safeguard, which fades away when the Baltoy looks at it. The clay doll is thankful for summoning it originally—without it, that could have been bad. But that doesn't change her will to prove herself better than that stupid little Larvitar.

Xander: 46% health, 69% energy; Idola: 87% health, 51% energy

Now that its attack stat is up to standards, Idola floats upwards a little with the help of her ability. Then, with every bit of force she can muster, she slams herself down on the floor of the restaurant. The ground immediately begins shaking, undoubtedly disrupting the everyday lives of everyone within a one-kilometer radius. Xander is affected particularly harshly due to his close range; he's thrown off of the ground, hits a wall, bounces off, and hits another one. By the time the tremor ends Idola is a lot more tired and Xander is a lot more dizzy.

Oh, Xander thinks, So that's how it wants to play it. Well, he can do that pretty well too, or so he thinks. The Larvitar quickly climbs upon the nearest table, which miraculously has not been knocked over, and jumps. He puts his entire body weight behind the attack, hitting Idola as hard as he possibly can. But to his misfortune he just bounces off. the attack didn't really have much of an effect, and Idola is still there spinning normally, as if nothing ever happened.

•Psych Up: 6% energy
•Earth Power: 16% damage, 7% energy
•Swagger: 6% energy
•Earthquake: 18% damage, 9% energy
•Body Slam: 4% damage, 8% energy

Arena Notes:
•There is dirt on the ground from previous Earth Powers.
•Many of the stalls are a bit wrecked, but a few of them are holding out.

Notes:
•I basically created the arena notes from scratch based on what the trainers' commands were like. But I /think/ that's how it was. Probably.
•Also, I'm assuming Old_Schooler went first last round (even though the arena description says commands should be PMed to the ref), due to the text in Sentrovasi's commands (which seem like a reply to those of Old_Schooler's)
•In the pokémon stats you say Ole Schooler, but in the commands you say Old_Schooler. I dunno if this is a mistake or what, but I'm calling the person Ole Schooler because I like that better.
•Xander moved first on action 1 because of his +2 speed, but after Idola's Psych Up it was faster. Since it hadn't received Swagger yet on action 2 and its commands said to only use Earthquake if it was riled up by Swagger, it defaulted to Earth Power on the second action.
•Swagger raised Idola's attack like normal, but due to the Safeguard the confusion didn't happen.
•My damage and energy calculations come from the ASB Calculator at Altered Origin.
•I wish I could ref this entire battle. It looks fun.

Next Round:

Round Three Begin

The ref waves his flag, signalling the begining of the third round.
Catform moves first, influencing nature around her to create a horridly cold blizzard, and directing it at Allatar. Allatar braces himself as the cold strikes, but mno amount of preperation can ready one for such a frosty blast. Allatar shakes the maining snow off of himself as he focuses his energy into a blue ball, in which he hurls to the sky. The weather sudenly changes from the cold hail, to a pleasent spring-time rain. Castform feels her molecules alter as they are influenced by the weather, becoming a raindrop form.
Battle Notes:
- No Paralysis (Rolled 42, needed 51+)
- No Freeze (Rolled 40, needed 91+)
Allatar: Health - 70%/Energy - 79%
Castform: Health - 88%/Energy - 76%

Castform smiles as she creates a condensed ball of water, and throws it at her opponent, catching him in it and forcing him to sustain the pressure on his ears. The Riolu recovers, and is stumped. 'How am I supposed to physically counter someone all the way o'er here?'. The Riolu just sits there with a saddenedexpresion of his trainer competence as the castform gleefully smiles about her luck.

Battle Notes:
- No Confus (Rolled 28, needed 81+)
- Allatar didn't do anything as Counter only applies to physical moves and Castform used Water Pulse, a special move.
Allatar: Health - 60%/Energy - 79%
Castform: Health - 88%/Energy - 71%

Castform once again takes the initiative and launches yet another ball of condensed water, once again putting stremneous pressure on the Riolu's ears. Allatar, sore and soggy begins to ready his energy to his palm, only to have his muscles lock up due to paralysis, and curses his luck as he glares annoyedly at his opponent.

There is a conflict between systems of payment for referees:
The value of a reffing is calculated based on the number of pokémon in the field at the beginning of a round. In an ordinary one vs one battle, this is two, so the base referee pay is multiplied by two for each round that a referee cashes in on this battle. In a double battle, on the other hand, there are usually four pokémon on the field at a time, so the rate for such a battle is four times a referee's base pay. Later on in the battle, one of the pokémon may have fainted; there might be a round in which only three pokémon were still battling. In this case, the value of the reffing would be three times the referee's base pay.

A referee's base pay is based on their rank. For novices it is $2, for advanced referees, $3, and for elite referees, $4.

Emergency referees receive $5 more per round than they ordinarily would. Frequent emergency reffing will increase a referee's chance of earning a promotion.

A referee does not receive payment if they do not actually produce a round of reffing. There is no payment for just starting a battle thread if one or more of the trainers doesn't show up and the battle goes nowhere. Likewise, there is no payment for simply ending a battle in a tie or ending a battle by DQ, aside from whatever the referee might make from the end-of-battle prizes.
(This thread)
and

When all is said and done and a battle ends, all those involved get a prize. The winner of a match earns $8 per pokémon that their opponent sent out against them, and the referee earns $5 times the number of pokémon the loser used. The loser receives $3 times the number of pokémon the winner had to use to defeat them.

Therefore, in a 3vs3 match where the loser sent out all three pokémon but the winner only had to use two, the winner would get $24; the referee, $15; and the loser, $6. In a 2vs2 double battle, the winner would receive $16; the referee, $10; and the loser, $4.

If a match ends in DQ before a single refffing has been completed, no participant receives anything. If a player loses by disqualification, he or she receives no prize and is barred from making or accepting new challenges for a period of two months.

If all parties agree to end a match in a draw, the prizes are half what they ordinarily would be.
(ASB Rules)

Do referees get both of the above payments, whichever is greater, whichever is less, or is one of them invalid?

You get both. The former is the payment per reffing and the latter is basically just a bonus for completing the battle.

Arena Notes: Hail (Four more rounds)

Once the stage had finished its alteration into a beach, the hail suddenly halted and was replaced by radiant beams of sunlight. The little referee waved the flags with his stubby arms to begin the third round of the match. As the Castform abruptly stopped its snickering due to this action, she began to heat her body up a bit, and this was no challenge since the arena had adjusted to her favor. Powered a bit more due to the harsh sunlight, the floating creature released a blast of fire toward her helpless opponent. Shocked by the sight, Allatar stood still in fear as the burning flames reached his vulnerable skin. The Riolu was knocked onto his back easily, and the Castform could not help but grin at his misery. Well, this simply cannot do Allatar thought. Obeying his command, he performed a little dance; first he discoed, then tangoed by himself (somehow), and ended it with a little jig. The clouds above seemed to enjoy this little dance, and so rain was released upon the arena. Ha! Let’s see that Flamethrower work as well as before! the Riolu thought. His relief was short-lived; the opposing Castform had changed its own body to match the weather. Again.

Allatar: 70% Health, 79% Energy; Castform: 88% Health, 79% Energy

Allatar facepalmed as the Castform began its next attack. Using the weather to its advantage once more, the creature formed a ball of water in front of itself. In a heartbeat, the Castform forced the ball onto the ground which released a pulse of water throughout the arena. Well, let’s just counter this thing! the Riolu stated in his mind. He placed his hands towards the coming water. Once again, the Riolu was no match, as he was helplessly dragged along with the remaining tides caused by the move. Allatar’s counterattack had failed. Oh, come on! You’re making this too easy! the Castform smirked, still unharmed. As the Riolu regained its stance, he could not help but notice that he felt a bit dazed and dizzy.

Allatar: 58% Health, 75% Energy; Castform: 88% Health, 74% Energy

Because it was continuously raining, the Castform decided its trainers order was logical and began to prepare another ball of water such as before. Once the Riolu across the arena saw the pulse of H2O rush across the stadium towards him, it braced itself for impact. Once the tide had withdrawn and seeped into the ground, Allatar began to focus his energy into his right hand. Once the hand was pulsing with power, he rushed with celerity towards the Castform to swipe that grin off of its face with a punch. However, his dizziness suddenly appeared once more along his stride which caused him to tumble over a pile of seashells upon the sand. Crap… Allatar thought as the short referee fluttered his flags to signal the round’s end.

HAIL - 4 more rounds

The old machine groaned and grumbled as the arena transformed back to its normal and rather boring minimalistic form. Castform grinned maliciously at her irritated opponent from behind her Substitute, unbothered by this and knowing herself to have the advantage in ALL weather conditions. What was Allatar but some idiotic bipedial blue dog? Speaking of blue… what better way to accentuate all of his blue coat with a scarf of mind-numbingly cold ice? She drew the frosted energies from within her, her doppelganger following en suite, and unleashed a burst of cruel, howling cold wind right in his face, with a hefty side of ice and snow. He knew from the getgo that there was no way he could get out of the way of this fierce assault, so Allatar attempted to stand his ground, his teeth chattering and his body shivering as the cold caused nearly every single nerve in his body to shriek in horror.

Immediately after the terrifying Blizzard had subsided, Allatar sighed in relief; maybe NOW he could incite his revenge upon that little wretch. What was she grinning at anyway?! He was about to wipe that grin right off of her ridiculously masked face… ow! Several shards of ice pelted him as the Castform snickered. He was getting REALLY tired of all this ice… it needed to go. The Riolu began to get his jive on, forcing his hips to wiggle and his body to dance about ludicrously in spite of his tired and paralyzed muscles. He was greeted with a fresh drop of water on his face. The icy shards that had formerly been falling from the sky were being replaced by a downpour; it had begun to rain.

(Castform – Health: 88%, Energy: 78%, Allatar – Health: 71%, Energy: 81% Blizzard did 16% and cost 8%; Rain Dance cost 5%, Hail did 1% to Allatar.)

Pfft, Rain? That was nothing to Castform! The moment the droplets of precipitation touched her body, her form had begun to shift to imitate those very droplets. Now she was as blue as he was, but much prettier-looking in her stylish Rain Form. And Castform Jr. too, as she had affectionately named her Substitute doll. It was all so perfect, so matching… Castform knew just the attack to make it all match together even more. Her body pulsated with hydrotic energies… a strange, yet rhythmic sound as she radiated watery waves in his direction. The rain resonated with the watery waves and only made them grow larger. Allatar snarled and held his head. Aagh, what a terrible noise! First he had to withstand nearly being frozen to death, and now this? Was that her attempt at singing? Seriously, what WAS that? Allatar knew he had to right this wrong at once, he had to counteract it. He slapped his paws at the waves that were washing over him, against the protest of his limp muscles, and yet… nothing was happening. The waves weren't growing smaller nor were they being shoved back in her direction… what the heck?! Castform laughed at the silly doggy flailing about haplessly. Allatar blushed in his embarrassment. He would get that wench and her little Substitute doll too!

(Castform – Health: 88%, Energy: 75%, Allatar – Health: 61%, Energy: 77% Water Pulse did 10% and cost 3%; Counter cost 4%)

This game was getting funner by the moment. That completely tacky blue dog was hapless at her, the great and beautaceous (what, that isn't a word? Castform was too awesome for ACTUAL words, so hush up!) Castform, with her matching form, her matching doll, her matching weather, and her matching attack. It was a combination unrivaled (it WAS italicized several times. That's serious business right there) and flawless, and one that simply had to be shown off as many times as humanly possible. The bodies of both Castforms pulsated again with that wonderful sound, and the watery waves radiated their rain-amplified power over the extremely irate Allatar. He put his paws to his ears, trying not to listen to her most inconsiderate racket. It would be over soon… patience… this time, he wasn't going to try anything stupid. Once the onslaught was over, he walked over to her slowly and readied his paw. WHAM! He slammed her straight across the face… or so he thought. That stupid doll of hers had popped up and taken the hit! What?! Castform was laughing again, completely and utterly unharmed. Ah, to watch futility… it was quite amusing.

(Castform – Health: 88%, Energy: 72%, Allatar – Health: 51%, Energy: 69% Water Pulse did 10% and cost 3%; Force Palm did 6% and cost 8%. Substitute is now at 9%)

Notes:
- The Arena changed to its default, boring form.
- Due to Allatar's paralysis, I added 1% energy to the attacks in which he physically exerted himself. That's all of them, really.
- Counter failed due to Castform's usage of a special attack.
- Castform's Substitute took Allatar's only damaging hit.
- Damage and energy calculations from the lovely Altered Origin's calculator. Although I did some of the math myself; mostly to doublecheck results since I am paranoid.
- Rain Dance is now in effect and will be for three more rounds.
- Castform is very fashionable. We must all be in awe of her matching expertise.
- Oh and let me add this, it didn't say the severity of Allatar's paralysis and though I do not list it, I reffed it as moderate.

Turn Order:
- Kanto Breeder crafts words from the recesses of their mentality.
- Pokémon Partner crafts additional words.
- That referee woman crafts a peculiar and distinct sort of words from the recesses of Mistak- Uh, I mean, her own, very competent and intelligent mentality and spins them together into a disaster.

About claiming reffings: can we still claim month-old reffings we did before the update but Negrek never posted paychecks for? Or are those void now?

KantoBreeder vs Pokémon Partner: Round three begin!

Allatar grinned as he, in dancing, commanded the clouds looming over the arena to stop hailing and start raining. Castform, now rainy, didn't mind; she was adaptable and had plans for everything. Rain pushed her back to plan C and so she gathered a ball of water, wrapped it in sound energy, and pulsed it in rhythm to her favorite song. Allatar couldn't dodge; he had to endure the force of the water and Baby. Thankfully, he focussed on the sound of the pouring rain and not Baby, but was still quite hurt, the rain making sting his wounds.
RNG says 83; the arena reverts back to its simplest form
Rain Dance used 5% energy; 4% base plus extra effort for paralysis
Water pulse cost 3% energy and dealt 10% damage

Castform performed another Water Pulse and Allatar tried to get into a defensive stance; however, he was unable to as the paralysis took over his body. All he could do was twitch. The ball of water and sound hit the unlucky Riolu; he was knocked back several metres and suffered scratches and abrasions to his normally hard body.
Allatar was completely incapacitated, but used 3% energy
Water pulse cost 3% energy and dealt 10% damage

Allatar was getting fed up of the battle; he was here to win, not to get humiliated - and by a girl and her doll, no less! He'll show that Castform who's boss. The paralysis loosened its grip on his body and he stood up - only to get knocked down by another one of that annoying Castform's Water Pulses. It blasted a strange song into his ears - and in horror, he recognized it as Friday. Too late, he covered his ears. Castform deserved his fist even more now. Standing up with difficulty, he charged at the happy Castform with an open palm and hit the surprised raindrop, causing her to lose her balance momentarily - or did she? Unfortunately for Allatar, he had hit her substitute. But damage is damage, and he was at least somewhat grateful that he managed to get at least some of it in for round 3, even though he would have liked to hit the giggling Castform instead of her giggling doll.
Water pulse cost 3% energy and dealt 10% damage
Allatar is now confused
Force Palm dealt 7% damage to the substitute and cost 6% energy (5%+1% due to paralysis/confusion).

HAIL- 4 more rounds

Castform giggles at her opponent, genuinely amused by the Riolu's plight. Sobering up, she goes over her commands. It's obviously still Hailing, so Blizzard it is! The small Pokemon inhales, then exhales a powerful gust of snow and wind at the unsuspecting Riolu, easily bowling him over and causing him to shiver. Angry at the rapidly changing weather, that Castform's everchanging tactics, and especially the hail that keeps pelting his head, Allatar attempts to get up the muscle power required for a Rain Dance. Sadly, his muscles lock in mid-stride, sending him sprawling out on the ground.

Castform - Loses 8 energy due to Blizzard
Allatar - Paralyzed, loses 11 health due to Blizzard and Hail

Heh. He can't even move without tripping over his own feet Castform thinks with another giggle. Her commands are relatively simple, so she continues with the previous attack, sending another gale of wind, snow and hail shards at the poor Riolu. He braced himself to counter the winds, but found himself bowled over once again, his Counter unsuccessful due to the absence of physical contact on Castform's part.

Castform - Loses 8 energy from Blizzard
Allatar - Counter failed due to Castform using a special attack, not physical. Loses 11 health due to Blizzard and Hail.

Castform is extremely pleased with the progress she is making this battle with the repeated Blizzard attacks, so she decides, just for the heck of it, to use it once more. Taking advantage of the hail, which is still pelting poor Allatar on the head, she inhales and exhales the familiar gale of strong winds and snow, which sweeps up hailstones as it goes, and bashes the Riolu. For the third time in a row. Allatar is begining to hate these annoyingly accurate Blizzards, so he decides to return the favour. Running up to the giggling Castform, he pulls his palm back and smacks her upside the head, hard. Only too late does Allatar realize that there was no sound from the 'Castform' he'd struck. He looks again, and realizes that Castform was floating off near the edge of the arena. Allatar had hit her Substitute instead! The round ends as the surroundings change into a rainforest, a soft drizzle beginning to fall and deep fog beginning to roll in.

Castform - Substitute loses 9 health from Force Palm, loses 8 energy from Blizzard
Allatar - Loses 7 energy from Force Palm, 11 health due to Blizzard and Hail
