Welcome to The Cave of Dragonflies forums, where the smallest bugs live alongside the strongest dragons.
Guests are not able to post messages or even read certain areas of the forums. Now, that's boring, don't you think? Registration, on the other hand, is simple, completely free of charge, and does not require you to give out any personal information at all. As soon as you register, you can take part in some of the happy fun things at the forums such as posting messages, voting in polls, sending private messages to people and being told that this is where we drink tea and eat cod.
Of course I'm not forcing you to do anything if you don't want to, but seriously, what have you got to lose? Five seconds of your life?

Arena Description: At first it seems like a standard, flat, everyday run-of-the-
mill Pokémon battlefield that you can find on the top and bottom floors of any
Pokémon Center, but it doesn't start to show its real colors until battle begins.
After the first round of move have been completed, the arena, becomes completely
randomized (see below) and will remain as such for the next 3 sets of moves when
it changes once again.
Description #1: If the spinner (aka RNG) lands between 1 and 23, then a machine
will change the battlefield into a perfect home for Groudon, complete with an
extremely bright Sunny Day and Sandstorm, with the landscape completely covered
it rocks and stones.
Description #2: If the spinner (aka RNG) lands between 23 and 46, then a machine
will change the battlefield into a torpical rainforest complete with tall, tall
trees, a dense fog, a light drizzle, and various vines that could possibly snare
any Pokémon who isn't careful.
Description #3: If the spinner (aka RNG) lands between 47 and 69, then a machine
will change the battlefield into a sand bench under perfect swimming weather
meaning there will be a hint of a Sunny Day in effect, a light gust, and not much
else to speak off.
Description #4: If the spinner (aka RNG) lands between 70 and 92, then a machine
will change the battlefield back into its simplest form.
Description #5: If the spinner (aka RNG) lands between 93 and 100, then a machine
will malfunction causing a dense, non-toxic smog to fill the area which will last
for twice the amount of turns while the repair people attempt to fix the machine.

Arena: Der Waffle Haus
Description: For some reason, two trainers have decided to duke it out in an otherwise unremarkable breakfast eatery. The rooms is brightly lit, with several patrons sitting and eating, and some vaguely pleasant music on the PA. The area is full of booths and tables, great for hiding behind, but not very sturdy (treat them like a 10% Substitute that blocks non-mental attacks). On most of the tables, of course, are waffles, and a Pokemon may eat them for 2% health. Pokemon are not allowed in the kitchen, and will spend an action being chased out if they try to enter.
(This thread)The value of a reffing is calculated based on the number of pokémon in the field at the beginning of a round. In an ordinary one vs one battle, this is two, so the base referee pay is multiplied by two for each round that a referee cashes in on this battle. In a double battle, on the other hand, there are usually four pokémon on the field at a time, so the rate for such a battle is four times a referee's base pay. Later on in the battle, one of the pokémon may have fainted; there might be a round in which only three pokémon were still battling. In this case, the value of the reffing would be three times the referee's base pay.
A referee's base pay is based on their rank. For novices it is $2, for advanced referees, $3, and for elite referees, $4.
Emergency referees receive $5 more per round than they ordinarily would. Frequent emergency reffing will increase a referee's chance of earning a promotion.
A referee does not receive payment if they do not actually produce a round of reffing. There is no payment for just starting a battle thread if one or more of the trainers doesn't show up and the battle goes nowhere. Likewise, there is no payment for simply ending a battle in a tie or ending a battle by DQ, aside from whatever the referee might make from the end-of-battle prizes.
(ASB Rules)When all is said and done and a battle ends, all those involved get a prize. The winner of a match earns $8 per pokémon that their opponent sent out against them, and the referee earns $5 times the number of pokémon the loser used. The loser receives $3 times the number of pokémon the winner had to use to defeat them.
Therefore, in a 3vs3 match where the loser sent out all three pokémon but the winner only had to use two, the winner would get $24; the referee, $15; and the loser, $6. In a 2vs2 double battle, the winner would receive $16; the referee, $10; and the loser, $4.
If a match ends in DQ before a single refffing has been completed, no participant receives anything. If a player loses by disqualification, he or she receives no prize and is barred from making or accepting new challenges for a period of two months.
If all parties agree to end a match in a draw, the prizes are half what they ordinarily would be.
There is a conflict between systems of payment for referees:
(This thread)
and
(ASB Rules)
Do referees get both of the above payments, whichever is greater, whichever is less, or is one of them invalid?
