• Welcome to The Cave of Dragonflies forums, where the smallest bugs live alongside the strongest dragons.

Guests are not able to post messages or even read certain areas of the forums. Now, that's boring, don't you think? Registration, on the other hand, is simple, completely free of charge, and does not require you to give out any personal information at all. As soon as you register, you can take part in some of the happy fun things at the forums such as posting messages, voting in polls, sending private messages to people and being told that this is where we drink tea and eat cod.

Of course I'm not forcing you to do anything if you don't want to, but seriously, what have you got to lose? Five seconds of your life?

3vs3 single
Style: Set
DQ: A week
Damage cap: 40%
Banned/restricted: No OHKO's or chills(you'll see why), one direct heal per Pokemecha
Arena: Neon Genesis Evangelion Mind Screw Machine.
Thsi battle is going to be SPECIAL. The Pokemon and trainers will be hooked up to a machine which creates a simulated battle arena in the form of a city. The SPECIAL part comes from the fact that the Pokemon inside the machine become Evangelion mecha! That's right, EVANGELION MECHA!! They keep any powers (and body parts) necessary for their attacks (eg. Taillow would have wings and a beak). They also keep their coloration, if it matters.
Because they're robots, instead of Chilling they will have power cables attached to the back of their necks. While these cables are attached, they will have unlimited energy. If they are disconnected or severed, the Pokemon will lose 10% energy each turn (in addition to any energy loss from their attacks). The cable can be reattached by using one of their unique moves (see below).
The Pokemecha have several unique moves.
Rifle Summon: A rifle will come out of one of the buildings, taking one action. The Pokemecha will immediately pick it up and can use it to deal a 25% damage Electric-type attack. Using other attacks will cause you to drop the rifle.
Knife Draw: The mecha pulls a knife out of one of its shoulder fins, and can use it for a 20% damage Steel-type attack. Like the rifle, other attacks require you to drop the knife.
AT Field: The mecha creates an invisible shield (lasting for three actions) which takes 15% damage off all attacks (before type related conditions such as super-effective attacks activate).
Cable Summon: Takes one action. A cable comes out of a building, which the Pokemecha grabs and attaches it to their back.

EDIT: Might be important. Forgot to add these.
a. The machine creates a SIMULATED battle that still gives EXP. It doesn't transform the Pokemon.
b. The trainer will be inside the Evangelion entry plug. Giving the command 'Eject Entry Plug' will have the same effect as a Pokemecha fainting.

Hope the edits don't ruin the battle.

I call this.

For possibly the first time ever, I'm making up my on interesting challenge.

3 vs. 3 Rotation Battle
Style: Set (only if it's recalled)
DQ: Seven Days
Damage Cap: 40%
Banned Moves: OHKOs, Chills limited to 2 per pokémon, Direct healing limited to 1 per pokémon
Arena: Open-Air Stadium

In the center of Asber is a large dome. Now, most of the arenas in this dome will be utilized in the coming tournament, but Superbird has managed to reserve one of them—The one which has recently been outfitted for Rotation Battles. The arena itself is nothing special; Just a standard-sized arena with no special effects.

Hoever, this is a rotation battle, and as far as I know there have never been any rotation battles in Asber before. So I'll explain how this will work:

Each trainer will send out three pokémon. One will be the battler, and two will be in reserve, situated behind the main battler. Neither of these reserves will be counted as KOed unless they actually are KOed. The battling pokémon will attack each other as usual—but only each other. The reserve pokémon cannot, under any circumstances, be targetted by any move.

But that would be pretty boring on its own, right? Well, anyhow, at the beginning of each round, in the same post in which they order commands, a participant may rotate their active pokémon with one of their reserves. The active pokémon then becomes a reserve and the reserve becomes the battler. The trainer then orders commands for the new battler. This rotation does NOT take an action to do, but may only be done before anything else in the round. If there is a rotation on both sides, they both happen at the same time.

Basically, a rotation battle similar to in Black and White.

Additional Rules: None, aside from what has been already stated.

A challenge for Mad MOAI, to see if I improved at all in my first battle since I got back.

3vs3 single
Style: Set
DQ: Standard week
Damage Cap: 30%
Banned Moves: Direct healing, 2 moves per Pokémon, OHKO's; other than that, anything goes. (Yes, I made an effort to make that rhyme.)
Arena: Abandoned Iron Quarry
This battle takes place in a deep quarry that was once mined, but all the people from the town nearby left due to a fire nearby. There is no mining equipment remaining, but evidence of digging can be seen, and if one looks closely, he or she could see that there is still a lot of ore in the walls of the quarry. This battle takes place at the deeper end of the quarry, where the walls extend at least thirty feet above one's head as he or she stands at the deepest part, and the largest amount iron ore is left in the quarry. The bottom of the quarry is somewhat sandy, and it's possible to dig a few feet down. There are many boulders scattered about in the quarry -- perfect for Rock-type attacks. But in addition, the iron ore in the walls can also be used as a substitute for rocks, making a move that uses rocks Steel-type instead.
Other: None.

DQ: Five days.

Damage Cap: none

Banned Moves: No energy/health restoring moves (Rest, Chill, Drain Punch, Leech Seed, etc.), Destiny Bond, Explosion, OHKO's.

Arena: Magic CD

A mixed CD, that magically plays music. Every round, a new song plays. Once a certain song plays, that song won't replay until all songs have played at least once.

1.Owl City-Fireflies: All pokémon suffer from insomnia, preventing them from falling asleep.

2.Nickelback-If Today Was Your Last Day: All pokémon put more effort into their moves. All moves take 2% more damage, but cost 2% more energy to use.

3.RHPS-Sweet Transvestite: One of the two pokémon's genders randomly gets switched to the opposite for the remainder of the round. If the pokémon chosen randomly is genderless, a random gender will be chosen

4.Portal-Still Alive: Each pokémon's energy and health will permanently be added together and then cut in half, making them even.

5. Ke$ha-Cannibal: All pokémon will be forced to use only physical move for the round.

YES I AM TAKING THIS.

DQ: One week
Damage Cap: 45%
Banned Moves: OHKO's, Sunny Day, anything that need materials that aren't in the arena (Surf, Sandstorm, Rock Tomb, and so on)
Arena: Zubat Hunting Ground

This is a pretty normal, standard field. It's the middle of the night - Zubat awake-time - so Sunny Day will fail and Synthesis would be at reduced capacity, but Moonlight would be at full effect; Solarbeam would take longer to charge up and be less powerful; and so on. Zubat, Golbat and occasionally Crobat will flit around the arena, but they won't actually affect the battle. No, the main effect comes from the fact that Zubat hunt at night, and so every second round, just after the end, the battlers will dart off for a light snack. They both, randomly, eat one of the following things.
Insect - a delicious treat, restores 5% health.
Nectar - sugary and delicious, restores 5% energy.
Pollen - from a Vileplume that's walking by, inflicts mild paralysis.
Fruit (fermented) - turning into alcohol, inflicts drunkenness (identical in effect to mild confusion).
Frogs - oozing with poison, inflicts mild poisoning.
Rodent - struggles madly and hard to hold, costs 5% energy.
Another bat / a bird - big and able to fight back, costs 5% health.

Other: Only Zubat may be used.

2 vs 2
Single Set
DQ Time: 3 Days
Damage Cap: 30%
Banned and Restricted Moves: OHKO's, chills, direct healing moves, weather moves
Arena Description: The Digital World
In a bizzare mixup, the Pokemon have somehow been sent to the world of Digimon. Now this has led to some very bizzare changes. The Pokemon each take on the form of a relavent Digimon (chosen by the ref), eg Cacturne into Togemon or Pidgeot into Birdramon, but no Charizard into Angemon. Secondly each Pokemon also gains the attribute that their Digimon form has, eg Vaccine for Angemon, Virus for Devimon. The attributes make the following effects and cannot be changed. Vaccine: Dark and Ghost attacks used against the Pokemon do 2% less damage, Virus: Dark and Ghost attacks used by the Pokemon cost 2% less energy, Data: Normal attacks used by the Pokemon do 1% more damage and cost 1% less energy. The main battle takes place in the Tamers universe, and will start in the desert layer. At the end of every round their is a 20% chance that a 'data stream' will hit the Pokemon and send them to a different layer in the following order. Desert --> Cloud & Clockwork --> Black & White Town --> Forest --> Underwater (everyone can breathe since they are data) --> Sovereigns Domain. Once they reach the Sovereigns Domain they remain there, and each action they are there, there is a 5% chance that one of the Sovereigns will attack one of the Pokemon (at random) dealing 8% typeless damage.

Sounds INTERESTING... I'll take this one, filling my third battle slot.
